Pioneer DayThe Prome 1 undo Concert The ZaneTVitcher Wedding Coinine Events The interest of society people was not engaged in strictly social affairs this week Pioneer Day was celebrated by attendance upon the grand concert at the Tabernacle and by small picnic and lake parties The promenade concert given by the Tabernacle choir at Saltair was well attended The ladies silver mass meeting leceived the lions share of attention at-tention and deservedly so Strictly social features were conspicuous by their absence ab-sence If Salt Lake city was not proud of her bright ladies before she has been since the mass meeting on Wednesday evening Those who failed to attend missed a rare feast of reason and flow of soul The chairman was dignified The music mu-sic was inspiring Everyone of the speakers handled the subject earnestly I and intelligently and the fact that many good points were made was attested by j frequent applause There were many i flashes of wit and occasionally burst of true eloquence The various committees showed good executive ability Yes they have helped out grandly bless their hearts said one of the masculine mas-culine persuasion We can get points from them about conducting a big mass meeting But they can learn a few minor things from us For instance the less crossing the platform and whispering during an address the better Then too can you tell me at whose door the blame for the jam in the vestibule lies I was l one of the crowd who waited for the doors to be opened Finally the middle ones were thrown open and the crowd started I have seen a good many crowds as I supposed but I never saw such a hurlyburly mass of crowding humanity People realized that there was something wrong in the arrangements arrange-ments and with the instinct of self 4 preservation pushed elbowed scolded and almost scratched and bit for breathing breath-ing spaceI tell you it was disgraceful 0 and whoever gave the order to open only the middle doors is responsible Did I push Not very much but an Amazon on my right nearly dislocated my shoulder shoul-der blade and broke three ribs and what hurt T y feelings most is that I saw by her face she had intended to inflict the injuries Colonel and Mrs Blunt recently cave a l t lake party in honor of the St Marks choir The pleasures of the day consisted Ii of a bath and lunch at Saltair besides a trip on the
