Show Miss Mary Cottam, Laurel Abbott Marry Here At High Noon Wednesday At high noon, Wednesday, Sept. 25, Miss Mae Cottam became the bride of Laurel Abbott, son of Mrs. Annie M. Abbott of this city. The bride is also of St. George, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cottam. President Harold S. Snow read the ceremony cere-mony with many relatives of the couple, both from this city and from eastern Nevada attending. Immediately following the ceremony cere-mony the parents of the bride assisted as-sisted by their daughters, Ruth Cottam, Mrs. Schuyler Maggard, and Mrs. Alma Evans, the latter of Parowan, and by their daughters-in-law, Mrs. William Cottam, Mrs. Carl Cottam and Mrs. Ronald Ron-ald Cottam, honored the couple with an informal family dinner at the Cottam home. Places were set for 30 members of the two families. The bride was charming in an old fashioned wedding gown of rustling white taffeta. Her corsage cor-sage was of pink and white rose buds and carnations. Early Wednesday evening the couple left for the Canyons where they will honeymoon for a week before returning to make their home for tKe present in Las Vegas, where Mr. Abbott has employment. em-ployment. The bride's traveling outfit was of black wool with matching accessories. The groom will be remembered for his music activities while attending at-tending the Dixie junior college, having sung the role of Stephen Foster in 1938, and taken major parts in operas for three years. He was also prominent as a soloist solo-ist in the various wards of the city and in civics clubs entertainments. |
