Show Funeral Services Held For Dorene Fawcett Funeral services were conducted in the South ward chapel Monday, Mon-day, Jan. 12, at 2 p. m., by Bishop Byron Taylor of the Center ward for Dorene Fawcett, six-year-old daughter of Melvin and Letha Stratton Fawcett, who died at the McGregor hospital at 1 a.m., Sunday of pneumonia, after a brief illness. Musical numbers included vocal duets, "The Lord Is My Shepherd", Shep-herd", and, "I Know My Heavenly Heav-enly Father Knows", by Mrs. Mary Lou Schmutz and Adrene Cottam; and solos, 'Teach Me To Pray", by Kenneth Judd, and "God Bless America", favorite song of the deceased, sung by special request of the parents by Mrs. Melba Baker. Speakers were Leland Hafen of the Dixie junior college, under whose coaching Mr. Fawcett gained gain-ed the rank of athletic stardom while attending the college; Pres. Harold S. Snow and closing remarks re-marks by Bishop Taylor. All emphasized em-phasized the hope extended to parents in behalf of their children, child-ren, of the blessings of parenthood, parent-hood, and the benefit of such ex- i periences in enlarging the understanding under-standing and sympathy of those who are thus tried. All paid tribute trib-ute to the brilliant mentality exhibited ex-hibited by the deceased. J Prayers were by Kumen D. j Williams and William Brooks, the1 grave in the city cemetery being! dedicated by Bishop Leo G.I Smith. j Surviving besides her parents i are three other children, LaRee I 5. LoGrande 2. and a baby girl, two months, her maternal grand-fa; grand-fa; her, Frank Stratton of Hurri-'cane, Hurri-'cane, and her paternal grandmother, grand-mother, Mamora Fawcett of this j city. |
