Columbia Ashley Valley Medical Center sponsored Mitch Lindsay, age 14, and Zackary Shields, age 9, to the Wyatt Asthma Camp. Two boys benefit from asthma camp During the month of July, two local lo-cal boys attended an asthma camp where they learned more about their illness and how to deal with it. Columbia Ashley Valley Medical Center (CAVMC) sponsored the two boys, Mitch Lindsay, 14, and Zackary Shields, 9, who attended Camp Wyatt Asthma in the mountains moun-tains around Tooele. This was the first time they had seen her out since her surgery several months ago. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Don (Helen) Wisenbarger of Mountain View, Wyo. Mrs. Scott is not a candidate for mayor this year, but is a candidate for a position as Town Councilman. Sheriff Jaylen Jarvie will attend the Wednesday noon meal at the senior se-nior center on Oct. 15. He will talk to the seniors about the up-coming bond eletfion on the proposed new jail at that time and answer any questions. Daggett County has received word from the movers that the building that is being moved to the grounds at the courthouse for a museum mu-seum will arrive this week. The senior citizen's van garage has a roof on it now. Volunteers did the work this past week. Due to the UEA conference there will be no school for Daggett County schools Oct. 9 and 10. The Manila girls volleyball teams will play against Rich High School at Manila on Oct. 16. The PSAT test will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 18. they also learned a great deal that will help them with the every day struggle of asthma." The camp was designed to give each child daily activities which would challenge and enhance learning learn-ing and recreational activities and promote a healthy lifestyle. Camp Wyatt was also designed to help teach the children how to manage their illness and to understand it. Being with dozens of other kids with the same disease is helpful in making the child not feel "different." "differ-ent." CAVMC is happy to have provided provid-ed this opportunity for the two boys and will continue to promote good health care any way it can. School lunch week Oct. 13-17 National School Lunch Week, Oct. 13 - 17, is a great opportunity to show students, parents guardians, and the entire community communi-ty what a wonderful job the Uintah School District is doing to serve children every day, according to Russell Anderson, supervisor CNR The program, organized in 1946, makes it possible for schools throughout the nation to serve wholesome, nutritious, low-cost meals to students every day. These lunches make an important contribution contri-bution to good nutrition, which is vital to a child's mental, physical growth and education. During the week of Oct. 13 through 17 parentsguardians are invited to join students for lunch. Guests will accompany their student stu-dent through the serving line. Reservations with the school need to be made before arriving for lunch. Student lunches are $1.50 secondary, $1.25 elementary and adult lunches $2.25. Golden Age News Seniors receive yearly flu shots by Brenda Foster Nurses from the TriCounty Health Department (TCHD) were at the Golden Age Center Monday to give flu shots to over 350 people. If you have not received a flu shot and would like one, go the the TriCounty Health Department in located lo-cated in the court house Monday through Friday after 3 p.m. Carl Swan, the AARP Legislature representative will speak during lunch Thursday, Oct. 23. He will discuss changes in Medicare and Medicaid, US West rate increases and deregulation of public utility companies, and how these changes will affect the elderly. Visitors at lunch this week include Mary Kutzler and Mildred Tadlock on Monday, Ralph and Florence Anderson, Marvella Wilkerson, Don Zoller, Ben Johnson and Selena and Albert Bubeck all visiting visit-ing Tuesday. Winners for bingo last week were Venna Barrett winning four games and four tying for second place with three games each on Tuesday. For Friday the winners were Myril Bodily winning five games and Edda Bingham and Phyllis Smith tying for second with three games each. The Golden Age Center will be closed Monday, Oct. 13 in observance obser-vance of Columbus Day. Halloween falls on a Friday this year so the Friday night dance will be a Masquerade Ball to start at 8:30 p.m. at the Golden Age Center on Oct. 31. Prizes will be given for best costumes. There will be pot luck, refreshments and games galore. ga-lore. The Food Pantry will hold their Brown Bag Program at the Golden Age Center Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Gamma Beta has bake sale The Chapter of Gamma Beta held a bake sale Sept. 27 at the Vernal Swimming pool sponsoring the Vipers Swim Team. A meeting was held at the home of Jackie Hanson's mother-in-law, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Jackie's mother presented a culture program on CPR. Ten members were present. Cultural Arts Club Camp Tokawana adopts new theme greets members The Cultural Arts Club was held Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the home of Maurine Anderson. The meeting was called to order and business was taken care of by President Maurine Anderson. The club theme this year is, "In our Lovely Deseret." Reva Anderson gave the program on the building and dedication of the Tabernacle. Each of the ten members mem-bers present were presented with a souvenir copy of the dedication, which was held in conjunction with the 81st Uintah Stake Quarterly Conference Aug. 24 and 25, 1907. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mildred Mansfield, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. Camp Tokawana met at the home of DeLyle Richards on Oct. 2. Marilyn Thacker and Maryetta Wardle were co-hostesses. Captain Reva Anderson greeted the members mem-bers and introduced Lois Bath who will be a new member. Marilyn Thacker told about the museum being be-ing open during the Vernal Temple Openhouse. After the business was taken care of Elva Allred gave the history of Maude Adams who is a relative of Elva's. Barbara Jolley gave the lesson on residents of Box Elder County: Annora Coleman Boden (1828-1899) (1828-1899) and twins, Omer Call (1834-1909) (1834-1909) and Homer Call (1834-1908). (1834-1908).
