Show Five of Eleven Contestants Spotlighted For Miss Pleasant Grove 2011 A ' 1 i - 1 ( i - " V..-' ' f - J Tayler Welch Lea Wride Rachel Green by Angie Walker Eleven contestants will vie for the title of Miss Pleasant Grove on Saturday, March 26, at 8 p.m. in the PGHS auditorium. They are Janelle Matheny, Eliza Shumway, Talysa Anderson, Ander-son, Andrea Gnciting,. Brooke Savage, Lexie Carr, Rachel Green, Tayler Welch, Tamela Daley, Lea Wride, and Hallah Harmon. The first six contestants were spotlighted last week and the odier five this week. Contestant 7 Rachel Green is the daughter of Shani Green. Rachel is a senior at Pleasant Grove High School. Her career ambitions include a double Major Ma-jor in Business and Theater with a desire to own her own theater. For her talent, Rachel will be performing a monologue entitled "Greater Tuna." She is raising money for Special Olympics in Utah by sponsoring a play for her platform project "Celebrating "Celebrat-ing Ability Instead of Disability." Tayler Welch is contestant contes-tant 8. She is the daughter of Terry and Wendy Welch. Tayler Tay-ler is a student at Utah Valley University pursuing a Bachelor's Bach-elor's Degree in Special Education. Educa-tion. She will perform "Polish Dance" on the violin. With her platform "Seeing Past Dis-ablities," Dis-ablities," she is helping people through an on-line informational web site. Contestant 9 is Tamela Daley, daughter of Eric and Kim ' , ' i - 1 .- - ; . ?' - o' ' ' Daley. She is a senior at PGHS and wants to pursue a Bachelor's Bach-elor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, becoming a Disney Dis-ney Imagineer. Tamela will sing "Astonishing" from "Little Women." Tamela is encouraging encourag-ing young women to pursue, careers in the sciences through her platform "Empowering Women in Science." Lea Wride is contestant 10. Lea is the daughter of Lance and Tewa Wride. She is a senior at Pleasant Grove High School and would like to Major in Public Relations and Minor in Dance at BYU. She will be performing a dance solo to "Hold Me Now.'" She is informing youth how to "Date Smart" with her platform. Contestant 1 1 is Hallah Harmon, daughter of Richard and Stacy Harmon. Hallah is a senior at PGHS and hopes to obtain a Master's in Psychology Psy-chology and have her own counseling office some day. Hallah will perform a vocal |
