Show Consolidation of Ciiv-Couaty Government 9o be Studied Jack Tanner, a representative rep-resentative of the Association As-sociation of County Governments Gov-ernments met Monday with representatives of Grand County, Moab City, and a ten-member committee com-mittee set up to investigate investi-gate ways of updating gov ernment for this area. Chairman of ihe committee, com-mittee, which was appointed ap-pointed last week, is to be Bill McDougald with vice chairman Les Rogers Rog-ers and Secretary Marge Widows. Mr. Tannerdis-cussed Tannerdis-cussed the function of the committee and staled that he would furnish them with a book showing the twelve alternate forms 'of City-County government govern-ment approved by the past state legislature. Included in these forms is a method of combining City and County into one entity governed by one commission. Tanner set up a further meeting with the committee com-mittee on Sept. 4. at which time he will pre sent more information on forms of government which will best suitGrand County and Moab. Officials of both Moab City and Grand County-have County-have indicated that they are in favor of some form of consolidation to remove duplication of many efforts. They feel that in the case of Grand County and Moab specifically, speci-fically, w here 85 per cent of the population of the county is within one city, such consolidation would prove beneficial. |
