Wheeler, the former Miss Shirlene Poulson of this city who, with her husband, will make a home in Provo, following their marriage October 1, in the Salt Lake Temple. Highlighting romantic news of the past week was the marriage of Miss Shirlene Poulson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Shirley Poulson and Richard J. Wheeler, son of ; groom. Mrs. Poulson wore a fushia crepe formal, while Mrs. Wheeler was attired in blue net and taffeta. taf-feta. Each wore a floral corsage. Kent Wheeler performed best man duties for his brother. During the evening an entertaining entertain-ing program was given, with Verl H. Meyrick, uncle of the bride, as master of ceremonies. Music was furnished by Don Humphrey, Golden Gol-den Hansen and Ellen Anderson; readings by Mrs. Ella Reynolds, aunt of the groom; dance by Elaine Anderson and Dale Law. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Perham and Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Smith greeted the guests at the door, while officiating in the gift room were Mrs. Verl H. Meyrick, Mrs. Fred Evans and Jrs. Maurice Metcalf. The guests, seated in a circle around a beautiful wedding cake, were served by friends of the Mrs Barbara Francis, Mrs. Loyd Bird, and Mrs. Bill Peterson Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter Wheeler8 of Provo. The vows were solemnized Wednesday, October 1, in the Salt Lake temple, with President Burton Bur-ton of the temple, officiating. Witnessing Wit-nessing the ceremony were parents par-ents of the bride and groom, also the groom's grandfather, Mr. George Meservy and Aunt Mrs. Lucille Meservy. After the ceremony the couple was complimented with a wedding dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler. On Friday evening following the wedding, a lovely reception in the Fourth ward hall complimented : the newlyweds. i The bride and groom received their guests before a flower-hanked flower-hanked background, with burning tapers arranged on either side. Lovely summer flowers, gladiolis, asters and roses predominating, decorated the hall and mantel. For the reception the bride ore a beautiful model wedding gown of white taffeta, with long I Pointed sleeves and beaded yoke ! h sweetheart neck line. Her fingertip fin-gertip veil of silk net bordered w'th orange blossom lace fell from a high crown of seed pearls. She CJrried a dainty bouquet of gardenias, gar-denias, white gladiolis and red roses. Attending the bride as maid of honor was Miss Jo Ell Meyrick, Jint of the bride, attired in pink ffeta. Attending as matron of nor was Mrs. Max Wimmer of J!aPia, aunt of the bride, In fushia crepe. Attending as bridesmaids in P" and blue formals, with corses cor-ses of roses, were the Misses i jla Ostler, Norma Collings, ! annah Adamson, Barbara Kelley, "ean Boyer. Nelda Beardall. Max-ne Max-ne and Bonnie Kaye Wimmer ere attired in blue and peach "fmals, and acted as flower girls, 'etha Zobell in blue formal, and ohn Wimmer acted as trainbear-i trainbear-i J Douglas Poulson and Lynn 'ndsay were partners for ' the """M girls. Others in the receiving line in-'"aed in-'"aed parents of the bride and directed the serving. Mrs Hyrum Meyrick and Mrs. Tom Wheeler, grandmothers of the bride and groom, acted as hostesses hos-tesses during the evening. Many lovely gifts were received re-ceived by the young couple during the reception, which was concluded conclud-ed with a dance. After the reception, recep-tion, the newlyweds left for an extended ex-tended honeymoon. The bride chose for her going-away going-away outfit a black silk suit with fushia top coat, black accessories, and gardenia corsage. Mr and Mrs. Wheeler plan to make their home in Provo during the coming school year, where Mr Wheeler will resume his studies at Brigham Young university. Complimenting the bride a rum-ber rum-ber of pre-nuptial parties were ven last week. On Monday Mrs. Walter Wheeler entertained thirty thir-ty eight friends at a bridal show- ner to honor the newlyweds. |
