Show Douglas C. Thrown Takes California ride - 4 White candles glowed at midnight mid-night in a Camp Louis Obispo, Calif, chapel last Tuesday, for the wedding of Barbara Hill, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Hill of that city and Sgt. Dougllas C. Brown, son of Guy Brown of Springville. A background of white calla lilies was employed in decorating the chapel arranged under direction direc-tion of relatives of the bride elect. Hiram Larsen of the L. D. S. church performed the wedding ceremony in the presence of nearly 100 wedding guests. The exchange of vows was preceded by a period of organ music by Mrs. Irene Price, who also accompanied Mrs. Dorothy Dewar, who sang "Ave Maria", and "O Promise Me". The bride was charming in a white satin wedding gown made by princess lines with long sleeves and a rounded neckline with lace insertion. A long veil was held in place with a tiny tiara. The bride held the white Testament of her sister and a lovelly bouquet of rose buds tied with white satin ribbon. rib-bon. Preceeding the bride down the aisle of the chapel was her sister, Mrs. Archie Rodriguez, as matron of honor attired in a gown of orchid or-chid chiffon carrying a French bouquet of orchid sweed peas. After a nicely arranged dinner, a review of the opera, "Tannhauser" with musical recordings was given by Mrs. Reeves of Provo. Attending the club party were, Minerva Johnson, Bertha Bearn-son, Bearn-son, Grace Parker, Faughn Niel-son, Niel-son, Rea Straw, Melba Sumsion, Fay Bearnson, Prue Wride, Mattie Davis. BILL CHILD WAS SUPRISED SATURDAY night at his home by a number of friends on jthe occasion of his birthday. Games, music and social conversation together with a delicious de-licious hot supper were enjoyed. . Guests included, Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Child, Mr.' and Mrs. Verl Child, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Child, Mrs. Marie Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Neilson and Ray Child. MRS. JIM MILLER WAS HOSTESS TO HER CLUB at the home of Mrs. Deal Miller, Wednesday evening. After r graduating from San Louis Obis- 1 po senior high school, she attended j San Jose State college. Possessing a talented voice, she is well known in musical circles of San Louis. i She is employed at Gainsborough 'I studios. Douglas who has been stationed i at Camp Cooke with the national :; guard, is a graduate of the local ' high school and has also attended s the B. Y. U., Provo. special guests including besides Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Wanda Miner, Mrs. Audrey Miner, Mrs. Hortense Harward and Melva Miller, attended. at-tended. MRS. GEORGE CRANDALL WAS HOSTESS THURSDAY evening to members of the Social Twelve club at her home. Three tables of contract bridge was played play-ed with high score prizes awarded to Mrs. Hazel Harrison and Mrs. Philda Finley, the latter a guest. At the close of the games, delicious de-licious refreshments were served to ten members and Mrs. Finley and Rea Straw, special guests. THE M. W. BIRD FAMILY ENJOYED DrNNER together Friday evening for the first time in a number of years. The' dinner was held at the Chicken Chick-en Roost. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover of Springville, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Bird and Carol Bird of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Huish of Berkeley, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Huish and three sons returned to their home on Saturday, and Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Bird will remain here indefinitely. in-definitely. MRS. A. Or PACKARD ENTERTAINED SUNDAY at a dinner at the Packard home complimenting her husband on the occasion of his birthday. The dining table held a beautiful beauti-ful centerpiece of sweet peas and gardenias and covers were arranged arrang-ed for Mr. and Mrs. Oris Packard Pack-ard and son, Darrel, of Reno, Nev., Mr. and Mrs. Alton Harker and children, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Packard and baby.and Preal Packard of Salt Lake City. |
