Show U " ; Young Couple Announce Engagement Plans Mr. and Mrs. John H. Patrick this week are announcing the engagement en-gagement of their daughter, Louise, to Frank Springer,, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Springer of Midway. Mr. Springer is attending Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university and Miss Patrick has recently returned to her home after attending the L. D. S. Business college. She recently recent-ly filled a mission in California and is a graduate of the Spring-ville Spring-ville high school. The marriage is planned to take place in the near future. f. BIRTHDAY DINNER PARTY HONORS MELRA CHHDS Miss Melba Childs was guest of honor at a birthday dinner party Saturday night. A beautiful birthday cake topped top-ped with yellow candles centered the dining table and later in the evening the group played progressive progres-sive games. The guest of honor received many lovely gifts from the following: follow-ing: Miss Jane Cherrington, Matt Robertson, Miss Jane Huntington, Miss Elizabeth Walker, Robert Thorn, Bobby Martin, Earl Pro-thero, Pro-thero, Miss Barbara Kelly, Miss Norma Weight, Miss Barbara Hall, Miss Norma Rae Ostlund, Miss La Rae McPherson, Ray Clegg, Dick Sumsion, Rex Roylance, Richard Rich-ard Wing, Don Clegg, Miss Lawana Taylor, Kenneth Long, John Con-die, Con-die, Miss Ann Whiting, and the guest of honor. I'ARAXADA CLUB HEARS PLAY READ Miss Merlene Tew was hostess to members of the Paranada club at her home Thursday evening. Luncheon was served early, carried car-ried out in a spring theme, and daffodils decorated the tables. Tiny miniature umbrellas were given the guests as favors. Feature of the entertainment was the reading of the three-act play, "Ladies in Waiting," by Miss Verda Mae Fuller,, Canadian student stu-dent at the Brigharil Young university. uni-versity. Members attending were Miss Norda Finlinson, Miss Zelma Thorpe, Miss Tonie Fox, Mrs. Mildred Mil-dred Larsen, Miss Virginia Sim-kins, Sim-kins, Mrs. LaVern Singleton, Miss Fern Ostler, the hostess, and the special guests, Miss Fuller and Miss Grace Holley. CURRENT STUDY CLUB ENTERTAINED MOXDAY Miss Faughn Nielson was hostess hos-tess to members of the Current Study club Monday evening at her home in Payson. After a delicious dinner, the group were entertained with a review re-view of James Hilton's "Random Harvest," given by Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson. Club members present were Bertha and Faye Bearnson,, Grace Parker. Eleanor Mattley. Minerva Johnson, Mattie Davis, Melba Sumsion, Sum-sion, Rea Straw, Elda Hansen, and the hostess. Special guests were Miss Fern Smoot, Vivian Georgensen, Cora Paige, Eva Lee, Thelma Snarr, Ileene Page, and LaThell Gibbons. MB. HURST HONORED AT BIRTHDAY DINNER On the occasion of her husband's hus-band's birthday, Mrs. Walden Hurst entertained at dinner Sunday. Sun-day. LEGION AUXILIARY HAS SPECIAL ART TOUR Approximately fifty members and guests of the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary were conducted on a tour of the art galleries Friday evening. President Ada Barron was in charge. In attendance were Mrs. Ora Bundy, president of the state American Am-erican Legion Auxiliary, of Ogden, and Mrs. Haydee Iverson, state hiKtorian; and district officers, Mrs. Sarah Sterling, Mrs. L. D: Stewart, and Mrs. Wignall of Pay-son. Pay-son. In behalf of the local unit of the Auxiliary, Mrs. Barron presented Mrs. Bundy with a gift. Mrs. Mae Huntington, art board member, conducted the tour and discussed exhibiting artists and their paintings. r WILLIAM DUNN FETED AT DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Dunn entertained enter-tained at dinner Sunday in honor of their son, William, on the occasion oc-casion of his birthday and celebrating cele-brating his return home. He has just been released from the U. S. navy. The guest list included Mrs. Hattie Dunn Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Kamis Nelson,, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown of Lark, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Larabee, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dunn and their families. HAFEN-DALLIN ART CLUB TO BE ENTERTAINED Members of the Hafen-Dallin Art club will be entertained Tuesday Tues-day night at the home of Mrs. Beulah Whiting. Luncheon will be served promptly prompt-ly at 7:30, after which Mrs. Bessie E. Gourley of Provo will give a lecture on flower arrangement. All members of the club are urged to be in attendance. |
