Show Springville Man Weds Spanish Fork Girl A CHRISTMAS PARTY WAS HELD MONDAY evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer at Payson for members of the W. A. Bird family. fam-ily. Following luncheon, games and the exchange of gifts were enjoyed. en-joyed. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird of Midvalc, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Russen Bird, Dean and Clara Bird. MRS. REA STRAW WAS HOTESS to members of the Current Study club at their annual Christmas party on Monday night at her home. The entertaining rooms were beautifully decorated with holiday motifs and emblems. A large Christmas tree added to the spirit of the occasion. From one long table centered with holly and poinsettias and tall tapers burning at either end, a delicious de-licious dinner was served early in the evening. Covers were arranged for twelve club members. Following dinner, progressive games were played and each winner win-ner received a prize. Later Christmas Christ-mas gifts were exchanged. A nuptial note of interest to friends and relatives in this city is announcement of the marriage of Miss Jane Nielson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Nielson of Spanish Fork, to Jay Strong, son of Mrs. Florence Ellis of this city. The ceremony was performed last Monday in Salt Lake City, and the couple plan to make their home in Springville. Mr. Strong is a graduate of the Brigham Young university, and is employed with the Illinois Powder company in Spanish Fork canyon. Complimenting the couple, a number of parties are being given. HOME CULTURE CLUB MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen and Mrs. Howard Thorpe at the home of the former on Friday evening at their annual Christmas party. Early in the evening a delicious Swedish dinner was served buffet style, with beautiful Christmas decorations dec-orations adding to the holiday spirit. Later bridge was played and high score favor was awarded to Mrs. Harold Christensen, with Mrs. Rhoda Dougall receiving the consolation con-solation and Mrs. E. V. Boorman the draw prize. Featuring the entertainment en-tertainment also, gifts were exchanged ex-changed during the evening. MRS. GLADYS AVERETT ENTERTAINED WEDNESDAY at her home for members of the Theta Tau club at their annual Christmas party. Holiday decorations decora-tions were employed at the dinner served early in the evening, and throughout the entertaining rooms. A review of the book, "Keys of the Kingdom," given by Mrs. Leah Jould of Provo, featured the entertainment, enter-tainment, and in conclusion the group exchanged Christmas gifts. Mrs. Leah Huff and Mrs. Jould were special guests. I G. LOWRY ANDERSON GAVE A DINNER and Christmas party for his employees em-ployees and their partners at the Chicken Roost on Tuesday evening. eve-ning. The group enjoyed a delicious dinner early in the evening with table and room decorations suggestive sug-gestive of Christmas. Later dancing danc-ing and card games were enjoyed, with prizes awarded in the latter. Each employee was presented with a lovely auto robe and the employees presented Mr. and Mrs. Anderson with a lovely silver tray. LA CON DA (HI5 MEMBERS WERE GUESTS of Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson at their annual Christmas party on Wednesday evening. A beautifully decorated tree and other Christmas Christ-mas motifs were arranged about the entertaining rooms. From small tables, dinner was served early In the evening, followed fol-lowed by cards for which prizes were awarded. Later gifts were exchanged. Ten club members and two guests, Mrs. Oliver Dalton and Mrs. Glen Nielson of Midvale, attended. at-tended. MRS. OLIVE ANDERSON ENTERTAINED TUESDAY evening at her home at a Christmas Christ-mas party for her near neighbors. A delightful time was spent with a program and social conversation and in conclusion tasty refreshments refresh-ments were served. MRS. F. V. MARTIN ' WAS HOSTESS to members of the Missionary society so-ciety of the Community church at her home Wednesday evening at their annual Christmas social and program. An interesting lesson on "Conditions "Condi-tions In Syria," was given by Mrs. Eric Keuhl, and Mrs. Lawrence Beach gave a Christmas story. Instead In-stead of the usual Christmas gift exchange, the group contributed to the Red Cross fund. Concluding the afternoon entertainment, enter-tainment, tasty refreshments were served by the hostess to members and guests. A NO-HOSTESS PARTY WAS HELD THURSDAY evening at the home of Mrs. Floss Cates for members of the Fidelity club. Dinner was served at one long table with candle and flower decorations. dec-orations. Later bridge was played with first prize going to Faye Cranmer, the secon favor to Mrs. Florence Boyer, and third to Mrs. Marjorie Davis. Gifts were exchanged ex-changed at the close of the party. Jack Laney, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Laney, is spending the holidays holi-days with his parents in Springville. |
