Couple Making Home in Springville Following Reception at Mapleton Over 500 friends and relatives greeted Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen in the Mapleton Memorial Hall Saturday night. Lighted candles and banks of beauti- ful flowers formed the background for the bridal couple and their attendants. at-tendants. Mrs. Allen is the former Maurine Bird, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Bird of Mapleton and Bob is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Allen of Springville. They were married on Thursday, February 18 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Bird and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Allen. The bride was beautiful in a white gown fashioned of chantilly lace over ice blue satin made with form fitting bodice, finger tip sleeves and full floor length skirt. Her Juliet crown was made of the same type of lace from which fell a filmy veil of brides illusion with lace trim. Her entire ensemble was designed and made by Mrs. Virgil Bluth. Complimenting her becoming becom-ing attire she carried a bridal bouquet bou-quet of white gardenias and steph-enotis steph-enotis and pink rose buds trimmed with silver streamers and metalic leaves. Receiving guests with the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Bird and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Allen. Mrs. Bird was becomingly be-comingly dressed in pink and Mrs. Allen was attractive in powder blue. They each wore corsages of white gardenias and pink rose buds with metallic leaf trim. Mrs. Anna Mae Wardle was matron ma-tron of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Marilyn Whipple, Miss Francis Garnder and Miss La Van-da Van-da Sheen. They wore pretty balli-rina balli-rina length formals in shades of pink and blue and carried nosegays nose-gays fashioned of white gardenias and pink carnations and rose buds. Ron Allen, brother of the groom, performed the duties of best man. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bird, uncle and aunt of the bride received receiv-ed guests at the door. Dale Allen presented guests with thank you cards and Mrs. Ann Allen was in charge of the guest book. Youngsters Young-sters who carried gifts were Claud-ai Claud-ai and Lynn Wardle, Brenda and Wendell Johnson, Monty Smith and John McDonald. Supervising the gift room were Inez Harmer and Pearl Holley. They were assisted by Jennie Tew, Gladys Parry and Ruth Anderson. Mrs. Rose Bona was in charge of serving and was helped by Norma Nor-ma Canto, Rhea Bleggi, Mary Bleggi, Arlene Antineno, and Dorothy Doro-thy Pererro. At nine o'clock the bride and groom led in the bridal waltz after which attendants and relatives joined in the dancing group. Guests were then entertained with a splendid splen-did program with Fred Smith acting act-ing as M. C. Prayer was given by Oscar Whiting; vocal solo by Orpha Dee Johnson accompanied by Anna Mae Wardle; song, Judy Wiscombe, accompanied by Boyd Hales; toast to the bride by Pearl Smith; toast to groom, LeRoy Tingey; song by the brides maids accompanied by Mrs. Murin Davis; benedication, Edwin Sheffield. The remainder of the evening was enjoyed with dancing with music furnished by the Carter orchestra or-chestra of Provo. The young couple will leave Tuesday for a honey-moon trip to southern Utah and Arizona. They will be gone several days and upon their return they will make their home in Springville. |
