Show PAYSON READIES PLANS FOR DIG CELEBRATION Top-flight horse races will highlight high-light four days and nights of fun at the eighteenth annual Golden Onion Days and Homecoming celebration cel-ebration to be held at Payson from Friday, September 3 to Labor Day, Monday, September 6. Over one hundred horses have been entered by owners throughout through-out the state to run in three days of racing. There will be eight races daily with post time scheduled for 2 o.m. each afternoon. The state's fastest horses, plus added purses, and a topnotch track promise to maintain this celebration as Utah's outstanding Labor Day attraction. The Jaycee Amateur Rodeo which has been established as an important part of the- celebration will be underway on Monday evening even-ing at 8 p.m. The rodeo will feature feat-ure the wildest stock pitted against top amateur riders from 16 to 60. This show will be the climax act of this year's Homecoming program pro-gram A free fireworks exhibition will hold the spotlight on Friday evening even-ing at the race track. Midget auto races are on the docket to thrill comers of all ages on Saturday evening. Both these outstanding events will take olace in front of the grandstand at eight p.m. I The annual D. H. Christensen reunion will be held in the Payson Park Sunday afternoon. All former students of this eminent educator are invited to be present for the reunion which will be held at three p. m. For the homecoming program to be presented in the Nebo Stake Tabernacle on Sunday evening at eight p.m., a prominent speaker will be presented. Other attractions attract-ions will "be presented to make this a memorable point in the Homecoming. Home-coming. Top-quality specialty acts will entertain crowds between races on each of the three days Among the acts are Phil and Bonnie Bonta who do muscular work on a 23 ft. pole. The Royal Whirlwinds will punctuate their roller skating act with audience participation. Jack Cavanaught, Australian whip-cracker, whip-cracker, varies his act with a knife-throwing act and changes places with his lady partner. In addition during the four-day celebration, an art and flower exhibit ex-hibit will be shown in the Junior High School building. |
