Show Grant Birthday Talks Scheduled Tryouts for the annual Heber J. Grant oratorical contest at Brigham Young university will be held Monday afternoon in the Little Theater, it was announced Friday by T. Earl Pardoc, chairman chair-man of the speech department. Contestants are instructed to report at the office of the speech department to register their orations ora-tions before participating. Speeches Speech-es are to be from eight to ten minutes in length, and on a religious re-ligious subject, Dr. Pardoe said. The finalists in the oratorical contest will give their orations on Wednesday November 22 which is the birthday of President Grant before the students and faculty of the university in College hall. A book is annually awarded to the winner by the church president. presi-dent. For the last two years the contest con-test has been won by students from Huntington Park" California. In 1937 the winner was Miss Elaine Brimhall, a senior, and last year it was Artel Ricks, a freshman. |
