Show 0e A. "Bird Observes $ rthday Mrs. Abbie Ann Bird, widow of diaries Bird, and pioneer resident 0- Springville and Mapleton, observed ob-served her 84th birthday at her Mme in Mapleton Saturday. She L the recipient of numerous ,is and other messages extend-;.j extend-;.j felicitations on the occasion of ter anniversary. 'Bom in Manti on June 13, 1858, she is a daughter of Edwin and Hannah Brown, who were sent to Manti to colonize by early church officials. At the age-of two years, she moved with her parents to Springville. She was married to Mr. Bird in the endowment house, Salt Lake City, July 25, 1878. Two years later they moved to Mapleton and were among the first families to settle in that community. Mrs. Bird has held numerous positions in civic and church organizations or-ganizations during her lifetime and has seen many changes in both this city and Mapleton. ! Numbered among .her descendants descen-dants are six sons and daughters, 16 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, among whom are five sets of twins. THE NOVELTY CIRCLE HELD A SLUMBER PARTY Saturday evening at the home of Wanda Holley in Mapleton. The group enjoyed, progressive supper and a picture show in the early evening and breakfast the following; follow-ing; morning. Present were: Louise Clyde, Helen Hel-en Christensen, Cecelia Maycock, Lucille Oakley, Phyllis Bird, Veon Bird, Wanda Holley, Norma Bird, Dorothy Weight, Genevieve Boyer, Shirley Johnson, Beverly Allen, Colleen Hurst, Joyce Whiting, Ve-loy Ve-loy Singleton, and Lois Hansen. WARDROBE BUILDERS 4-H CLUB MET - on Wednesday at the home of their I leader, Mrs. Elva Tipton. Instruc-' Instruc-' tions on their sewing was given to the following members in attendance: atten-dance: LaRee McPherson, LeRee Bjarnson, Elizabeth Walker, Joan Smith, Joan Blackett, Darlene Morton, and Betty Jean Alleman. CLEVER STITCHERS 4-H CLUB MET THURSDAY t the home of Geraldine York, Mere the girls enjoyed working on their sewing projects and later I delicious refreshments were serv- ' ed. Another meeting was held re-Wtly re-Wtly at the home of Donna Hun-Won, Hun-Won, with the following mem-ws mem-ws present: Geraldine York, Irene Jonese, Plorice Hjorth, and Donna Huntington.
