Show AMERICAN WOMAN IS ON TRIAL Widow of Italian Poet, Born In America, Faces Tribunal Charged With Activities Against Fa.scisti. ROME, Dec. 22 (UP) -Mrs. Lillian De Bosis, American-born American-born widow of the Italian poet, went on trial at 3 :07 p. m. today before a special tribunal for defense of the state, charged with anti-Fascist activities. The 62-year-old American woman, who was tried as co-defendant with another woman and five men, was llcble to a sentence of from 15 U' 30 years, but it was expected her 111 health would cause the tribunal to be lenient. She worn a black velvet hat and a black dress under a grey coat with grey fur on the collar. Her gloves were white. A letter which Mrs. De Bonis wrote to Premier Benito Mussolini after rearrest on charges of clr-, culation of antl-Fascint literature was read to the court. In the letter Mrs. De Bosis made a full submission to the Fascist premier and recanted her Ideas. She said she had been misled. |
