Show joyable time there. The couple were gone about a month. Mrs. Ella Miner spent the past week with Mr. Miner who is located lo-cated on construction work at CasUe Gate. Miss Wilna Brown entertained a group of friends at a birthday party at her home Tuesday night. Luncheon was served at one long table early in the evening and the girls later enjoyed social chat and music. There were present pres-ent Cecilia Maycock, Luella Huntington, Louise Clyde, Helen Christensen, Lucille Oakley, Miriam Mir-iam Long, Marjorie Simkins and the hostess. The second meeting and social of the Third Ward Gleaner girls under the leadership of Mrs. C.G. Russell, was held Tuesday night, at the home of Miss Grace Wright. Twenty members were-in were-in attendance. The meeting featured fea-tured a lesson "Music Appreciation" Appreci-ation" given in an interesting manner by Miss Betty Sumsion. Miss Phylis Smart gave two violin numbers to illustrate points in the lesson. Dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served in conclusion, the next meeting will be held at 8 p. m., on Tusday, July 11, at the home of Mrs. C. G. Russell. In celebration of the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Mary Miner, a delightful dinner was given at her home on Monday. Covers were laid for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Nelson and the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs-Nelson Mrs-Nelson of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Del Roundy of Map'leton, Mr. and Mrs. William Banks of Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hazel, Mrs. Sylvia Miner, Mrs. Elizabeth Whitmore, Mrs. Margaret Miner, Mrs. Alda Alleman, Miss Allen, Miss Elma Miner, Mrs. Joe Hawkins, Hawk-ins, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Miner and the guest of honor. Members of the S. T. club will be guests of Mrs. Will Brown at her home Thursday evening at S o'clock. Arch H. Bird returned the past week from New York City where lie has spent the past several months with his daughter Mrs. Charles Harding and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harding and their daughter daugh-ter Marianna accompanied Mr. Bird on the return. They will spend a short time here and will then go to San Francisco, Calif., ta visit the worlds' fair and return re-turn by plane to the east. While in New York, Mr. Bird spent several days at the fair. Members of the Third ward Gleaner girls' class were delightfully delight-fully entertained last Tuesday night, at the home of Miss Leola Harrington. The group' enjoyed social chat and sewing together with a delicious "pot luck" lunch. The class leader, Mrs. C. G. Rus sell was in charge. About 25 class members and guests attended. attend-ed. The class plans to hold regular regu-lar meetings every two weeks throughout the summer. Mrs. Loyd Bird and children returned re-turned from Helper Thursday after aft-er a several days visit with relatives rela-tives and friends there. Mrs. Jim Rothwell and children left recently to join Mr. Rothwell at their ranch home in Burley, Ida., after spending the school year here. The regular monthly meeting of the American Legion auxiliary was held Wednesday night, under un-der the direction of President Hazel Roylance. It was Fidac night under the direction of Chairman Ruby Christensen and the talk bf tne evening was given by Hugh Baxter of the high school faculty. Beautiful string music was given by Aleen and Carol Condie accompanied by lone Averett. Ellen Anderson entertained en-tertained with vocal selections with piano accompaniment by Julia Sumsion. The presentation of awards for selling the largest number of poppies was made to Mrs. Hazel Roylance and to Mrs. Emma Long. It was decided to cooperate with the Fourth of July committtee and enter a float in the parade that day. Mrs. Mary Miner has recently returned from Bakersfield, Calif., where she was called on account of the serious illness of her son John Miner who had pneumonia. No. 4, of Provo of which she is a past honored queen, entertained recently at a dinner at the Robert's hotel. Daughters of Pioneers Camp Springville, Kolob and Aaron Johnson met conjointly Thursday afternoon, in the Relic hall, at the Shore, the marriage to take place June 28, in the Salt Lake temple. tem-ple. Miss Sumsion is a graduate of the normal school of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university and has been employed as teacher in Nebo district schools the past four years. j Ad'Libitum club members in a group attended the show last Monday night and later also enjoyed en-joyed a delicious chicken dinner at Haase cafe. In attendance were Bernice Jensen, Evelyn Jordan, Margaret Pierce, Wanda Stewart, Naomi Sumsion, Lola Smith, Afton Bringhurst and Dona Collins. The next meeting is scheduled for the near future to be held at Saltair. Miss Goldie Hirschi of Geneva, Idaho, is visiting in Springville with Miss LaRue Mower. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover left last Saturday for a few days' vacation trip to the west coast. They planned to visit the latter's sister, Mrs. Mary Huish and family at Oakland and to spend some time at the world's fair at San Francisco, Cal. Mrs. J. S. Poulson and daughter, daugh-ter, Shirlene and son Douglas, of this city, has returned to her home following a week's visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Meyrick at Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. Evans, son of Mrs. Jane Evans of Lake j he, with his family, will arrive in Springville soon to make his home permanently. Mrs. Vanza Mann was hostess to members of the Old Friends' club at her home Friday night. She had as special guests, Mrs. Maude Roylance, Mrs. Reese Da-vies Da-vies of Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Condie Crandall. Cards featured the party with prizes won by Mrs. Muriel Robertson, Mrs. Adelia McPherson and Mrs. Roylance. Roy-lance. The group also celebrated the birthdays of Mrs. Odessa Child and M.rs. McPherson, club members, and they were each presented with a lovely, gift. A well arranged luncheon was served ser-ved by the hostess to 12 members mem-bers and guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child and daughters, Tess, Marjorie and Yvonne, and son Art, have returned re-turned from, a delightful vacation vaca-tion trip to the west coast. They spent three days at the San Francisco fair, where incidentally Mrs. Child was one of tfie lucky persons who, through the courtesy cour-tesy of the Bell Telephone Co., was given the privilege of mak-. ing a call to anyone in the Unit-; ed States. They visited Mr. and Mrs. . J.. S- Wilkins at Point Richmond, Calif., and several other friends in coast cities. En route they called on Chief of Police Lew Gemmell at Reno, Nevada, and he escorted them over the city. They returned by way of the northwest, visiting interesting places in Washing-Ion Washing-Ion and Oregon. Miss Myrtle Childs of this city left recently to attend summer school in California. She plans to spend some time at the world's fair at San . Francisco, and on her return, expects to travel up the west coast, visiting places of interest in the northwest. Mr. and . Mrs. Hugh B. Wing of Mapleton, have returned recently re-cently from an enjoyable trip in the eastern states. They first went to Detroit, Mich., where they purchased a new car. From there they went to Pittsburg, Pa., where they visited their son Hugh Wing, who is an instructor in the University at Pittsburg, : Pa., and his family. From Pennsylvania, Penn-sylvania, they traveled to Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, attending a session of .congress, to Mt. Vernon, Arlington Ar-lington Heights and numerous places of historical interest thru-out thru-out the eastern states. On their return, they called on President and Mrs. William T. Tew at the L. D.
