' t ' ilround the Town The Little Team . played Ave-nues Bantams in Sugar House, tied Saturday afternoon, 7-- 7, mak-ing the record of the Little Team six wins and one loss. The Big Team played the Avenue teams, and lost the game, 7-- 0, making their record, five wins and two losses. Stuart Simpson scored the touchdown, Gary Summerhays made a pass to Denny Rigway for the extra point. Jerry Clyde, recently released from the Air Force, and his wife, Colleen, are buying a home in Sugar House. Jerry is the son of Gov. and Mrs. George D Clyde. The Governor and his wife are presently in Arizona where Mr. Clyde is scheduled to give a speech, after which he will pro-ceed to Denver for. another speak-ing schedule. Dick Movitz, prominent Utah skiier, was one of the guests at-- i tending open house at ZCMI for their open house fashion show of skiing fashions. After a little pheasant hunting, he plans to go to Alta for a little pre-seaso- n ex-ercise on the famous slopes. Mr. Movitz lives at 2111 Roosevelt Avenue with his family. A charity luncheon at the Avia-tion Club was held by the femme branch of the Exchange Club. Fashions Fancy was the theme of the fashion show which accompanied it, with gowns being supplied by the Salt Lake Knit, and accessories by Adrienne and Emile. Models for the fashion show were Mrs. Theorn S. Covey, Mrs. Robert Boucke, Mrs. Max Holliday, Mrs. Thomas Gaddis, Mrs. James McFarland, Mrs. James Robinson, Miss Judy Bur-ton, Miss Carold Cofey, Miss Lin-da Covey, Miss Karen Daynes, Miss Marsha McLeede, Miss Pa-mela Reece, Mrs. Robert Spring-meye- r. An organization meeting , for the Symphony Debs and Sub - Debs was held at the home of Mrs. G. R. Daynes, with the purpose of making plans for their organi-zation for the coming season. Mrs. .Maurice Abravenel was the ad-visor, together with Mrs. Donald Lloyd, vice president of the Wo-men's Symphony Guild. Mrs. Daynes is the chairman of the Symphony Debs. Miss Bonnie Joe Nelson officiated at the first meeting. Members of the com-mittee were Sue Horley, Linda ; Snow, Karen Daynes, Johnny Val-ley, Cecelia Casey, Mary Brady, Janet Clayton, Sue Wintrob, Lee Beckstead, Barbara Nelson, Kar-- , an Jonas, Barbara Humphreys, Margaret Thompson, Joan Tanner and Becky Bennion. Highland High Plans Career Day' Representatives of various occu-pations were introduced at a gen-eral assembly at Highland High during the first Caree Day spon-sored by the Kiwanis .Club. Informal lectures on various occupations followed the assem-bly. Asking questions in various fields were Sharleen Lawson, Ma-ry Stevens, Richard Halverson, Donna Train, Ann Ensign and Lay-- 1 el Madron. I ' Symphony Season Begins In Salt Lake The highlight of the Salt Lake Social Season was the Symphony Soiree, held October 30 at the Starlight Gardens of the Hotel Utah. John Ireland, Broadway and Hollywood star, was guest of honor, among many Utahns who are quite well known in th Mr home towns. The theme was the Sym-phony Starlight Dinner, the theme being carried out in the table de-cor, which was a harp made of ice and decorated with fall flow-ers. The delightful arrangement was made by Chef Girrard, who decorated the buffet table. Com-mittee members on the planning committee were Mrs. Richard W.j Madsen, Mrs. Walter Kennedy, Mrs. McKinnon, Mrs. Richard P. Middleton, Mrs. Joseph Jones, Mrs. Walter Young, Mrs. J. C. Landenberger, Jr., Mrs. Elsworth Haines, Mrs. Q. A. Rogers. The ! Symphony Debs performed capab-- ly and beautifully escorting guests to their tables. Those serving in this capacity were: Bonnie Jo Nelson, Sally Creer, Sheila Soren-se- n, Karen Daynes and Janice Nelson, Janice Clayton, Sue Win-tro- b, Elinor Brough, Karen Jo-nas, Cynthia Snow, Jaon Tanner,, Sue Thorley, Becky Bennion. The dinner was held to cele-brate the opening of the 18th Sym-- I phony and the eleventh season with Maurice Abravanel conduct-ing. I Quartet Parade Visits South High Ninth annual Parade of Quartets of the Salt Lake City Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber-shop Quartet Singing in America will be presented this week. This annual festival of hilarity and harmony will be seen Friday and Saturday, November 15 and 16 at 8:15 p.m. at South High auditorium. The soulful tones of the "Sweet Adeline" type songs will bring many a nostalgic tear to the eyes of oldtimers who remember the Gay Nineties tonsorial parlors. The youngsters of all ages who prefer their quartet music with the zip and dash of the boys with the "23 skidoo" and "Oh, you kid!" style, will likewise be en-tertained. : Three great quartets, who plac-ed in the semifinals of the Inter-national SPEBSQSA competition, will be in Salt Lake to perform. The Great Scots, with kilts yet, will fly in from East Liverpool, Ohio. The Sharpshooters will comej from Whittier, California." Third of these topnotch groups is the Evans Quartet of Salt Lake. It includes Turk, Preston and Jack Evans and Gene Smith. The mixed chorus of the Salt Lake Chapter, SPEBSQSA, will al-so perform. German Shepherd Club'Enjoys Canyon Spearheading their drive for membership, the present mem-bers of the German Shepherd Club of Utah celebrated with a buf-fet dinner, a short business meet-ing and a general social hour at the mountain cabin home of Pearl Ann Chaney, chairman of the membership committee of the Club, located 'in beautiful Silver Fork, in Big Cottonwood Canyon, on Friday evening, Nov. 8.
