The trophies were custom made from funnels and war surplus blank shells, and were presented by former Bishop H. P. Call. Neil H. Purdie was master of ceremonies. Highlight of the show was the performance of an act which ap-peared on television in November. The entire cast of 30 youngsters was hand picked from Bryan Ward. They ranged in age from four to 13 years. One adult was in the cast. The act was directed by Pat Lund Davis. It was a seaside scene with the girls in Victorian swimsuits and the boys in striped blazers. Each ward organization prepar-ed a skit, from the bishopric 'down to the Primary. There were sev-eral "in-betwee- solo numbers. PEACH OF A PRIZE. Silver Springs, Md. Sydney Mendelsohn ordered some fruit trees five years ago from an Il-linois firm which was later con-victed of mail fraud. The trees about 8 inches tall were marked plum, apricot, peart cherry and apple. The plum seed-ling died and the apple tree was barren. But, the apricot tree grew and this" year Mendelsohn's son picked severa4 and won first prize at the Montgom-ery County Fair with them. They were beautiful peaches not apri-cots. m i" ,.. .... - 4 ' : ' '.'rV7 " . pjdPO ..-- . i- - f, f ...
