Show PIONEER WOW IS SIM BT DEM Mrs. Julianna S. O. Rock-wood Rock-wood Passes Away at Age of 78 Years. Mrs. Julianna S. O. Rockwood, 78 years of age, a pioneer of 1862, died yesterday ut her home in Sugar House of tho infirmities of age. Mrs. Kockwood was a native- of Denmark. Den-mark. She came to Utah with Captain Murdock's company, walking across the plains j'rom the Missouri river. Some time after her arrival here she married A. P, Itockwood. At one time she was matron of tho state prison while her husband was warden. Daring all her llfo Mrs. Ttoclrwood was active as a church work or. For tho last thirty-five j'ears of her life she- was a widow. During that time sho farmed a five-acre tract of land for tho support of herself and children, doing laborious work without complaint, plowing plow-ing tho land hersolf and harvesting tho crop annually until her sons became old enough to relieve her of tho heavier part of the work. She ib survived by two sous, Samuel and Julius A. Kockwood, Kock-wood, and by twelve grandchildren, all of Sugar TTouse ward. A sister, Mrs. Mary Monsou, is living in Richmond. Utah, and a brother, Nclso Olsen, is in Denmark. Funeral services will bo held at tho Sugar House ward chapel at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Frionds aro invited in-vited to attend. |
