Millspaugh. widely known educator, member mem-ber of the California state board of edu-! edu-! cation and former president of the state j normal school a t IjOS Angeles, died at his home here tonight. Jesso Fonda Millspaugh was born at Battle Creek. Mich., June, 1 S o 5 . the sou of Jacob and Mary Ann (Decker)- He received an M. D. degree, at the University Univer-sity of Michigan, and in 1s S3 the M. P. degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He married Mary Clark Tarsou in Salt Lake City in Aug-ust, 1" He was principal prin-cipal of t lie Frankfort high school, Indiana, In-diana, for two years, then principal of the Salt Lake Collegiate Institute and later superintendent. He was made superintendent su-perintendent of Salt Lake City schools in IS'.'O, and organized and developed the school system. From "U?1.' to !H04 he was president of the Winona, Minn,, state normal school. In HMH he was made president of the California state normal school at 7os Angeles. He was a member mem-ber of the California board of education, for five years secretary of tiie National Fducation associat ion. a member of the Helta Ens Hon and Phi Beta Kappa so-oiet so-oiet ics. He was the author of many papers r.ud addresses on educational subjects. |
