Show DRANK CARBOLIC ACID. The Horrible Death of William D. Mofflt at Park City. William D. Jloflit, of Tark City, a miner employed at the Mamo mill, died last night from the effects of drinking carbolic acid. The poison was taken by mistake. He was ill when ho went homo Inst evening and thought that he would take some alcohol, diluting dilut-ing it with water and sug.tr. He put some sugar and water in a goblet and went out in the back room where the bottle was kept, and after tilling the glass, stirred it with a spoon aud drank the contents before he was aware of its true nature. He perceived his mistake at once and walked Into the front room where his wife was sitting, and after telling bor what he had douo, informed her that he had got to die. Dr. Wilson was summoned and did all in his power to assist the sufferer, but his effort? were futile and after suffering uutold agony for an hour he died. The deceased was about 43 years tf age and leaves a wife and four daughters to inouru his loss. He was a member of the Park City band and belonged to one or more socret orders. The funeral will take place in this city tomorrow under the Masonic order. The body will be brought down from Park on a special tomorrow morning. |
