Show The Tehuantepcc Ship Railway. r New Yobk, December 12. A telegram received re-ceived to-day from President Diaz, of Mexico, Mex-ico, by the president of the Tehuantepec Ship Railway Company, announces the passage yesterday by the Mexican Congress of the amended concessions to the company. These amendments add to the previous land grant l,7C0,C3O acres, the whole land concession conces-sion being equal to half the area of New Jersey. Coaling stations are to be permitted at either end of the railway, to which coal from the United States or any other foreign nation co-operating with Mexico in guaranteeing guaran-teeing interest on the bonds of the railway company is to be admitted free, to the exclusion ex-clusion of coal from all other countries. This will give a new market to the United States coal trade, if the United States Congress Con-gress joins with Mexico in the . guaranty upon which the bonds to build the ship railway rail-way are to be based. Mexico guarantees the payment of $1,250,030 ayear for fifteen years, provided this or some European country will guarantee $2,500,C00 more per year for the same period. The time for completing the road has been extended to 1894. |
