Show Funeral is Held Wednesday for Elmer Lunceford Relatives and friends assembled Wednesday to pay final tributes of respect the memory of Carl Elmer Lunceford and express sympathy for his family. The impressive im-pressive service, began at 2 o'clock in the Second ward L. D. S. Chapel with Bishop E. M. Williams in charge. The opening number "Teach Me To Pray," was sung by Mrs. Emma Em-ma Olson, accompanied by Mrs. Rhodes Jeppson. Invocation was offered by Jack Lunceford. Next followed a vocal number "In the Garden" by Mrs. Olson accompanied by Mrs. Jeppson. Jep-pson. Speakers who paid tribute to the memory of Mr. Lunceford and spoke words of sympathy and encouragement en-couragement to the family were Robert Olson and former Bishop Reed O. Walker. Mrs. John Quist sang the closing clos-ing number "Good Night and Good Morning." She was accompanied by Walter Bigler. C. R. Clark pronounced the benediction. Prelude and Postlude organ music was played by Mrs. J. Howard Nelson. Interment was made in the Provo Pro-vo burial park, where Delbert Lunceford offered the dedicatorial prayer. Flowers were cared for and ar ranged by the Second ward Relief Society. Pallbearers were Willard D. Burge, Verlon Scott, Harvey Lunceford, Lun-ceford, Ray Strong, Lee Llewellen and Dell S. Foote. Mr. Lunceford died at 2:50 p. m. Sunday, while attending a family outing at Mirror Lake in Duchesne county. He suffered a coronary occulsion. Born in Lakeview, Utah, May 15, 1907, he was a son of John H. and Melvina Hanson Lunceford. He was married to Pauline Vaughn in Santa Ann, Calif., March 12th, 1927. They have lived in Pleasant Grove since 1944. I A tile setter by trade, Mr. Lunceford Lun-ceford had served for nine years with the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, and an elder in the Second ward. Surviving are his widow: three daughters, Mrs. Crookston, El Centro, California; Mrs. Alice Haddon, Leamington, Utah; and Joan Lunceford, Pleasant Grove; a son, Robert O. Lunceford, Pleas, ant Grove; his father of Lakeview. Seven brothers and sisters, Melvin J., Delbert O., and Dean Lunceford, Lunce-ford, all of Brawley, California; Mrs. Emma Scott, Provo; Mrs Angie Young and Mrs. Eena Brandt, Bran-dt, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Janade Covo, El Centro, Calif., also one grandchild. |
