Show Poultry Ranch Tour Attracts 100 Producers Various points in Utah and southern south-ern Salt Lake counties were visited by more than 100 Utah county poul-trymen poul-trymen Monday, according to County Agent W. J. Thayne. The tour was of exceptional value to poultry men as professor Byron C. Alder of the Utah Agricultural College, Col-lege, accompanied the tour and explained ex-plained various new methods used in this great growing industry. Prof. Alder is one of the best poultry, specialists in the west and he discussed dis-cussed such subjects as sanitation, feeding, brooding, raising and marketing market-ing at the ranches where the very best methods were being used. At Payson, sanitation was especil-ly especil-ly stressed, and the unique spraying machine used by Payson Poultry a: sociation at the Loveless farm to keep its coops and yards in perfect condition was demonstrated for the tour members. At the ranch of A. G. Grossgrove in Draper, sanitation was again stressed, along with Mr. Gross-grove's Gross-grove's methods of feeding and various vari-ous time saving devices which he employs. em-ploys. Tbe tour got under way at Spanish Fork at 8 o'clock, and stops were made at the most important ranches in the county. At noon the tour stopped at Lehi, where lunch was served by the First ward Relief Society women under the direction of Joseph Anderson of the Lehi Poultry Association, while short talks and music were featured. The general manager, Clyde C. Edmonds, Ed-monds, was one of the speakers. Representatives of the Washington Co-op. and distinguished men from s-California, were in attendance. |
