Show AN OGDEN MAN FOR GOVERNOR. The Progressives of Ogden are for J. "W. Abbott for Governor. He is an Ogden man of ability, honesty and high purpose; he has executive ability as demonstrated in the success of the great wholesale whole-sale firm of which he is the directing head. He is an enemy to sham and hypocrisy, outspoken, and independent. Ogden has been ignored in the higher offices of the state so long that this city should begin to assert its right. Salt Lake and1 Salt Lakers get all the good offices and all the money spent by the state officials.. Ogden never has been allowed to name a governor, congressman or senator, with the exception of Prank J. Camion. This is the second largest city in the state and should be given the Governor, if Reed Smoot and George Sutherland are to continue as our senators and Joseph Howell as one of our congressmen. The Democrats of Ogden, now that the Democracy of Utah is encouraged to believe the, party has a rare opportunity to win the state, are advocating the candidacy of Tillman Johnson for congress, and Joseph Scowcroft and M. S. Browning for Governor. There cannot be too man- Ogdenites on the state tickets this fall; there should be more than in the past; there, at least, should be a candidate candi-date for Governor from this city so that, with his election, Ogden might be known as the summer capital of the state. By the waj', the state of Utah is in need of some strong man to head a movement to correct the tax abuses from which the small property owners of Utah suffer. We believe that were J. W. Abbott made Governor he would prove to be that-man. |
