Show Utah's School Busses Are Made For Safety Real progress in making school busses in Utah safer, is reported bv the State Road Commission, siter a study of the school bus jispection report of R. Whitney Groo, Superintendent of the high-ray high-ray patrol. Mr. Groo's report experessed sppreciation to school authorities jit their cooperation in the safety safe-ty mowmenft and stated that any of the defects in school busies bus-ies found by the patrolmen in making the inspection have been alien care . of. Evidence of im--rovement is seen in the report i last year's inspection which nowed 222 busses with defective ;.thaust pipes, whereas this year jere were only thirty-one. Last year there were 84 busses which lacked the required emergency ;sit while this year there were only fifteen. The report shows that there re 100 busses which do not meet fate law requiremets for school bus brake efficiency in addition :o the other defects noted, bcnooi authorities in the districts where 'ie defective busses operate have been notified of the deficiency and requested to have the defects ;aken care of immediately. W. D. Hammond, chairman of ie Road commission, has stated that there will be no let-up in ie safety program until every school bus in the state has been brought to the required safety ;:andards. |
