A v.wt amount of work is necessary to keep it going an, the work is not ,K-rfor,nl only by those elected to public ' work necossuT also that every citizen do his share of that ; 1 One of the most important things to bo done is the nomination nomina-tion and election of the officials of all the units of government, from the chief executive down to the least important city or ; town office. Th,s calls not merely for the time spent in voting , at all primaries and elections, but for willingness on the part of the cuiy.ens to read and study about the work of government . A voto counts but little, if citizens make little effort to find ; out what makes good government, and what candidates will do the most to maintain it. j The people who refuse to voto should ask themselves if they are doing their fair slu.ro iu carrying on this great job of government. gov-ernment. It would seem as if the least they could do would be to register on the voting lists, and cast a ballot at each election i lon7 nTc ?C" giVe" b' PeOP'e fOF failinS to Tote loct-' loct-' of 111. Also by some equally conscientious men who leel that political parties are about alike and politics is a hopeless mess, and nothing can be done to help these con. ihtums. ; One would tlunk that for their own self interest, such people would want to find out about those subjects and exercise some , inlluencc on them. Their taxes, their costs of living are increased increas-ed if t lungs go wrong i the government, also their chances of earning a living are reduced if government nustakes are made . Iho country calls on them to do their best to solve these qucs- , tions, and find some way out of its troubles. They ought to heed that call and look into these things, and form some opinion as to how wo can develop a better country, and then voto in a way to express those opinions. |
