With the loss to North Summit, Park City finished last in Region 11 with an 0-3 record. Despite this fact, the Miners are going to the state tournament Wednesday, Feb. 23 at South Summit High School. They have qualified because Region 11 has only four teams this year, and the region is allowed four representatives. represen-tatives. The tournament will have 16 teams from Regions 11, 12, and 13 in double-elimination double-elimination play. Park City's first game will be against the number one team from Region 13 on Wednesday at . . 2:30 p.m. Against the number two Region 11 team, North Summit, the Miners played one of their better games of the year, last Thursday, according ac-cording to Park City Coach Maggie Haun. "We played well against North Summit, better than we did earlier this year," said Haun. "Our shots just wouldn't drop. They rolled around the rim bat just wouldn't fall." The Miners took 46 shots from the field, and only six went through the hoop. Haun said the Miners were fast breaking like they practiced. prac-ticed. But it was just not their day. Twenty-five turnovers tur-novers did not help their day much either. Losing to North Summit and having a losing season, 2-6 overall, does not discourage Haun before the state tournament. "I think that finishing eighth in the state is not out of the question," she said. "We have a week and a half to practice for the tournament." tour-nament." Practicing with the team are some adults, whom Haun hopes will give the team more competition.
