See our Mountain Sustenance PageB8 by Jeff Howrey We are fortunate, in a town of this size, to get so many well known artists coming through. The opportunities to see big-name music talent in Park City during any given week are often better than they are in such metropolitan areas as Salt Lake. In just the past few days for instance, such musical luminaries as Tim Weisberg, Peter Yarrow and John McEucn (of Dirt Band fame) have graced Park City stages. The last two, along with Donny Osmond, were part of the U.S. Ski Team's Celebrity Classic festivities last week. Speaking of which, meticulous readers of Park City Live might recall that last week it was announced right here that Poco would be playing Friday night at Deer Valley. Unfortunately, that proved not to be the case. Park City Live duly apologizes for the mistake and any inconvenience (or for that matter, false hopes and expectations). But, hey, we're only as good as the information we receive. And we were told by those running the Celebrity Classic, a few days before the event, that Poco was indeed in-deed scheduled to play. A few days later, all that had changed. Hmmm. What a rotten letdown. Anyway, it would have been nice to see Poco, but this week as Park City's endless string of big-timers continues to pour through town there's a chance to maybe make up for ail that. Another well known and highly respected country-rock country-rock outfit Pure Prairie League will be appearing at the Cowboy Bar Thursday through Saturday. The group, whose hits include in-clude "Amy" and "Let Me Love You Tonight," will be performing one show Thursday Thurs-day night at 9 p.m. On Friday and, Saturday there will be two shows each evening, beginning at 8 and 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the Cowboy liquor store on upper Main Street. For further information, infor-mation, see separate article this section. In other news from the Cowboy, it appears that the male and female strippers will continue to be featured on Monday and Tuesday nights, respectively, from now on. Unless things get too out of hand and they are busted for breaking Utah obscenity ob-scenity ordinances. No doubt some of Park City's finest will be out in uniform each time the strippers perform. Park City Live trusts that our police force will keep a very, very close eye on things. Park City's working class suds bar, the Alamo on Main Street across from the Post Office, probably won't be having any nights quite as wild as last Sunday when local law enforcement authorities broke up a wild and crazy bachelor party and gave citations to the strippers. But there's always good times waiting at the 'Mo, especially when there's live entertainment. As of press time, the proprietors of the Alamo could not confirm exactly who will be performing there this week. Generally, there lye entfirtainment the 'Mo Thursdays through Saturdays. And the long-anticipated Park City Cabaret 83 (or, The Silver Queen Strikes Again) will take place this Friday and Saturday at the Kimball Art Center's Main Gallery. A similar presentation presen-tation last year resulted in two sold-out performances, so it might be wise to pick up those tickets ahead of time.
