PARK HOTEL CONDOMINIUMS .u a i s s ' k i-: r. r i' .i k k : i r y Quick where's the intersection inter-section of Heber Avenue and Main Street? If you know the answer, the chances are that you've been living here for a while. For newcomers, there are only two ways to find your way around. One is to ask somebody. The other is to get a map. If you try to rely on reading street signs, you're going to find yourself in big trouble, particularly in Old Town. With a few exceptions, there aren't any street signs in Old Town. But that may be about to change. Maybe. . According to City Manager Arlene Loble, the city has received several bids on a contract to make street signs, largely for the Old Town area. Universal Graphics, Inc. of Provo submitted the low bid: $27,374. The company would make the poles and signs, and city crews would install them. But don't get too excited just yet. There's a catch: the city doesn't have the money to pay for the signs, so a decision on awarding the contract is being delayed. Loble said the contract won't be awarded until the city feels a little more secure about its revenues, of which a substantial amount comes from new construction. "It's starting to look very positive for an upswing in the spring," she said. "But..." Delivery of the signs is expected to take about 30 days from the time the contract is awarded. Planners nix deep heat The Park City Planning Commission voted unanimously unani-mously to approve the York-town York-town Condominiums. But commissioners didn't warm to the idea of a coiled-heating system for the parking ramp. The project, located on Sidewinder Drive in Prospector Pros-pector Square, would have 51 units and below-grade parking park-ing with an entrance ramp at the west side of the property. The staff's report said the coil heating was necessary to solve icing problems inherent in-herent with below-grade ramps. Commissioner Cal Cowher questioned the need, at the Feb. 4 meeting. He noted one project near the city library had a lane with a similar grade and no ice problems. "I think we're just asking for trouble." Commission Chairman Greg Lawson said. "We should make driveways so they don't depend on something that could break. On top of that, it's expensive and a nuisance." nui-sance." Yorktown was approved, with the staff directed to rework the access. The approval requires a 20-foot staging area from the back line of the sidewalk; realignment realign-ment for better turning radii; and an approved landscape plan. Snow conditions It's apparently going to be bluebird weather for the next couple of days with some unseasnoably warm temperatures. So grab the skis and the tanning butter. There's no time to lose. All the local resorts are in full operation and last week's snowstorms have left the slopes in real good shape. f ' ' ' ' ; ParkWest reports a basepf 84 inches while Park Citjr has 96 and Deer Valley 74. '"" The weather for the next couple of days will be beautiful according to the National Weather Service. Thursday skies will be clear, with highs in the mid-40s. Thursday night temperatures will dip into the 20s. Friday should see temperatures getting evn warmer, as winds from the south pick up. Cloudiness should increase in-crease late Friday and by early evening there will be a slight chance of precipitation. a a si s China (Rifye (Restaurant ispen aays a wetc, 1 11:30 a.u. -11:00 p.m. Sat Jt Sun. 3:00 to 11:00 .
