Show Washington's Bicentennial Birthday Celebration Firs! Program Begins Feb. 22 at Mt. Pleasant Judge Dilwortfh Woolley Will Be Principal Speaker Dr. W. P. Winters, Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, called the George Washington Wash-ington Bicentennial committee to :i'-et Monday afternoon at the City Hall and arrange a program fcr tiie beginning of the Bicentennial Bicenten-nial Celebration on Washingtrm's birthday. The committee consists of . the feUowing members: General chairman, Henry P. Olson Ol-son of the city council; President S. M. Nielsen of North Sanpete stake; Bishop A. L. Peterson and the Rev. N. R. Smith, representing the churches; Mrs. C. W. Sorensen Soren-sen and Mrs. Parley Rosenlof, Relief Re-lief Societies; Captain Chesley P. Seely and E. G. Brunger, Battery D, 222nd field artillery; Mrs. 11. W. Candland, women's clubs; Clarence Clar-ence Anderson, Lions' club; E. M. Johnston and Joseph Coates, world war veterans. The Program The following Washington bicentennial bi-centennial program will be given Monday, February 22 at 2 p. m. in the Elite Theatre: Band music, junior high boys; saxaphone selection, se-lection, George Squire and company; com-pany; invocation. Reverend Norman Nor-man R. Smith; flag salute, Battery D; community singing. "America" directed by George Squire; five minute talk, "Tree Planting ol Memorial to Washington," Mrs. C. W. Sorenson; girls octet, "Father cf Liberty" by Roberts, Gwen Oldroyd, Bernice Outzen, Thelma Mitchell, Lucile Hansen, Georgia Gilchrist, Ruth Gilchrist, Marguerite Mar-guerite Williams and Kathryn Wail; accompanlest, Phyllis Hoi-man; Hoi-man; reading, Mrs. J. B. Staker Jr.; ladies double trio, conducted by In". Larsen Jones; talk, Judge Dilwcrth Woolley; selection, High School Orchestra; benediction, Bishop A. L. Peterson. Tree Dedicatorial Services Tree Dedicatorial Services will be held immediately following the Washington program held at the Elite Theatre, on the grounds at the South ward chapel, at the North ward chapel, and at the high school. These trees were planted ir. memorial to George Washington last spring by the Relief Societies. Dedicatorial prayers will be offered offer-ed by Eva M. Sorensen, Mina H. Sorensen and Matilda Peterson. Remember the time Monday, February 22nd at 4 o'clock p. m. The public is invited to attend. Business Houses To Close Mayor Winters and the Mount Pleasant City Council have asked all business houses to close Monday, Mon-day, February 22nd, in honor of the birthday of the first president of the United States, George Washington. A good program has been arranged ar-ranged for 2 P. M. at the Elite Theatre. |
