Show STEPHENSON EXONERATED. Charges of Bribery Against Wisconsin Wiscon-sin Senator Are Not Proven. Washington. The Heyburn , subcommittee sub-committee which haa been Investigating Investi-gating the election of Senator Isaac Stephenson of Wisconsin on Thursday Thurs-day unanimously agreed on a report which holds that the charges of corrupt cor-rupt Ion and bribery made against Senator Stephenson have not been proven. The report deals at length with the expenditure of $107,000 by Mr. Steph-ensou, Steph-ensou, which Is pronounced pernio- ISAAC 8TEPHENSON. lous. Explanation for this lavish ute of money was found tn the existence of the primary election system In ' Wisconsin, rendering it necessary for , the candidates to supply fund for expends such as are supplied by the state in regular e'ertions. |
