Show Rites Conducted For G. Kmpey Funeral services were conducted in St. George Monday for Gordon Empey, 45, who was trapped in a a gravel slide the preceding Thursday Thurs-day at Wendover, and suffocated before fellow workers could dig him out. A native of St. George, Mr. Empey Em-pey had worked near Delta at intervals in-tervals during the past two years. He was an employe of Reynolds Construction Co., at Springvile, and had worked on the King Canyon road west of Delta during the winter win-ter of 1948-49 and this summer and fall he was employed on the Sugar ville road. He had left Delta ten days before he met his death. He operated heavy equipment on construction con-struction work. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Lamona Hunter, Cedar City; Lew Mar Empey and Aileen Empey, Em-pey, St. George; his father, John Empey at St. George; two grandchildren; grand-children; four brothers and four sisters. Burial was in the St. George cem etery. |
