Show MILLARD COUNTY TO VOTE $75,000 SCHOOL BONDS At a meeting of the Millard county school board Tuesday, it was agreed to call a bond election in Millard county, March 19, to raise $75,000 to meet immediate expenses brought about by the closing of the State Bank of Millard County, February 2. The school board had a balance of about $64,000 in the bank at the time of closing ,unsecured except for notes furnished by the bank. Some authorities auth-orities are holding that these notes must be returned upon demand of the state banking department. The bond election, it is stated by school officials, will not raise taxes, since by liquidation of the bank it is proposed to care for the notes as they fall due. Negotiations with Walter H. Had-loek, Had-loek, state, bank commissioner, to open op-en the State Bank of Millard County did not materialize as well as the school board had expected, but it is understood an attempt to reopen still is being made. The school board is seriously handicapped han-dicapped in that $40,000 of their own tax anticipation notes now past due are in the hands of the county treasurer treas-urer to secure county funds that were in the same institution. 0 |
