Show PETRIFIED TREE IN BEAVER MOUNTAINS EXCITES INTEREST yjJC OF BY-GONE AGE IS S VTD TO BE SIXTY FEET THICK Recent discovery of a huge petrified petrifi-ed tree in the Beaver Mountains has created no small amount of interest ''n Milford, and efforts will be made to ascertain if the reputed size of the phenomenum is correct. The tree is said to measure sixty feet in diameter dia-meter and four hundred feet long. Henry Bowman said he had that information in-formation fromi reliable sources. The subject was discussed at the Lions club this week and several members were incredulous. According Accord-ing to J. R. Murdock, the fallen monster lies on a steep hillside on the north fork of North Creek and is accessible within a half a mile by auto. This location is a few miles northeast of Beaver. The tree is only partially exposed. On infor-. infor-. mation given Mr. Mirdock, the tree is a redwood. From the part not buried, many chips have been broken off already by visitors to the spot.
