Show DEATH OF AGED LADY AT SHIELD Smlthfleld, Oct. 5. Mrs. James Ahrens, an old tlmo resident of our city, died Thursday ot old age. Mr3. Ahrens has been very feeble for several sev-eral years, so doath was not unexpected. unex-pected. She leaves a husband and one son, Walter Ahrens, of Mendon. Several children and two married daughtors preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Sunday In the Second ward meeting house. ' Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roskelley attended at-tended tho banquet given In honor of Mr. Oliver Johnson of Logan, who left with the third contingent of soldier sol-dier boys for American Lake, Wednesday. Tho Sarah Woodruff camp of the Daughters of Pioneers will meet on October 10, when the following program pro-gram will bo given: "Early Homes and Architecture," Mrs. Katie Cra-gun; Cra-gun; solo, Laveda Griffiths; sketch of the llfo of Mrs. Ellen McCann, La Von McCann; duet, Mrs. Rebecca Pitcher and Mrs. Rose Ewlng. The two wards will hold special programs on Tuesday evening, next, at the opening nights of the M. I. A. work. The eight-month-old baby of Mr. and Mrs. DcLos Heath died on Wednesday. The First ward M. I. A. and tho Sunday school officers gave a farewell fare-well social on Monday evening for Mr. Mont Tlmmons, who has boen drafted into the army service. Mr. Tlmmons has been very prominent In these associations. A vest-pocket kodak ko-dak was presented to the young man. Mr. R. L. Thompson, who was so badly burned at the O. L. Sc I. station by a 1500 volt meter exploding, is reported improving. Much sympathy fe folt for Mr. Thompson, who burled his wife and a child about two weeks previous to his accident. Messrs. Nathan Thornley and Henry A. Hanson nre each building new houses. Sunday school stake officers, John H. Peterson, William Thornley, Edward Ed-ward S Chambers and Katlo H. Cra-gun, Cra-gun, visited the Lewiston schools last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Honry Hanson en- ' tertalned on Sunday In honor of Mr. Vern Toolson. Those present were Messrs. and Mesdamos Osborn Low, Oliver Nllson, L. V. Toolson. Mrs. Magglo Griffith, U. II. Griffith, Griff-ith, Mr. and Mrs. William Thornloy, Dr. and Mrs. Jarvls, Bishop Will and Glen Winn were all Brlgham City visitors vis-itors the past week. Mrs. Mary Wood and daughter, Wanda, spent Sunday at Lewiston. The Misses Breta Gam and Stewart Stew-art havo gone home during tho school vacation. The, grades below the fifth will not havo the fall vacation. Mr. James Mllllgan, our rustling J morchant, was called to Ogdon on Wednesdny to attend a funeral. Mr. Balloy of Salt Lake City, who has charge of tho Shamrook orchard here, is In tho city. Miss Hazel Miles Is now at her post as librarian in our city library.. Up to dato nearly six hundred books have boen donated by our peoplo. Among thn conference visitors aro: Messrs. and Mesdames George R. Smith, Joseph W. Peterson and John Colman, Merrill Potorson, Bishop Winn, James A. Cragun, L. D. Cash, and Josoph Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Pitcher of Canada are visiting relatives here before going to conference. Mrs. Molly McCann, who Is still at a Logan hospital, is reported as improving very nicely from a most serious operation. Mrs. Gladys Shilling of Ogdon la horo with hor mother.
