Truckers Association Seeks Members in Utah Area The Terrific Truckers Association is looking for new members. The association is an organization of people whose livelihood de- pends on the trucking industry. The TTAs purpose is to promote safety on the highways through the use of CB radios in trucks and as base stations and to raise monies for charitable purposes. The Terrific Truckers Association of Salt Lake devotes much of its energies to raising money for the Intermountain Burn Center. One of the TTAs latest ventures was a trucker versus smokies football game that took place at Granger High. The highway patrol won the football game 33 to 12 but the trucking association also won with over $1,000 to donate to the burn center. Right now he repairs about 250 clocks a week in his Kaysville shop. He has some help from his assistant Wanda Hansen. Ms. Hansen fixes only clocks. She was trained as most young clockmakers as an apprentice in the shop. Most of the watches that Boyer fixes do not come from Kaysville. Many of the citys residents are not aware of Boyers little shop at 5 N. Main. Most of the watches come from 45 or so jewelry stores throughout the western states. Many jewelry stores do not have clockmakers to service the watches they sell, Boyer said. So they send them to a central shop and there are not very many of those, he said. Boyer said that shops in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon and Washington as well . as in Utah send their work to him. Boyers shop is unique, he said, because it is a full service shop. He will even service grandfather clocks. Sometimes it is difficult to get parts for the older clocks so most of them are made right in the shop. Boyers shop has done work on antique clocks for the LDS historical department in Salt Lake City. All of the parts needed to repair those clocks had to be made by Boyer or his assistant. To make these delicate parts and to help him with his work with modern electronic watches, Boyer has invested in precise instruments and equipment. These instruments have helped to make Boyers shop one of the most widely respected, he said. He said that many clockmakers only work part-tim-e and do not bother to keep up on the latest techniques and equipment. Boyers shop in Kaysville is fairly new. He moved into it on June 1. He has had shops all over the area since he started in the business in places like Layton, Bountiful and Salt Lake City. Boyer began his craft by working with a certified master clockmaker. He has taken extra training seminars and courses in order to keep up on new developments in his field, he said. He has learned to repair both accutron and quartz watches. He boasts that he is the best clock repairman around. Clocks, watches and jewelry are also sold in the little shop. Its top quality merchandise, Boyer said, because the better the quality the easier it is to repair. CLOCK SHOP owner, Robert Boyer, takes pains to make sure his clock repair fine MEAL THE WHOLE Reg. 2.34 Rog. 2.84 LAYTON HILLS MALL Next to Mervyns uVOidJ) AND is done right, FAMILY GOOD THRU OCT' 17th 'LET'S AU.
