O Williams near Provo on July and It Is hoped that at least 15 boys bos from Cedar City will be In attendance The purpose of the Boys Boys' State as set forth iby by Department Dt officials officials dais Is a plan for tor training In the functional aspects of citizenship It Is a program of education to teach teath the youth of today constructive at attitudes attitudes at- at toward the American form torm of government It attempts to show that our scheme of government has hns not outworn its usefulness that all alla a democracy needs is an Intelligent citizenry and a clean honest and Impartial administration responsive to the will of the people Boys Boys' State purports to educate our youth In the duties privileges rights and responsibilities of American American American Ameri Ameri- can citizenship It Is wholly a plan for training In the practical aspects of government and Is functional In that applications of the principles of democratic government are made in every possible way The citizens of Boys Boys' State organize their own city count county and state governments and find themselves the performing ex exactly exactly exactly ex- ex the same functions as real officeholders In the everyday world They choose their own officials In accordance with regular election procedures They learn the duties dutil's of the various city county and state offices The They introduce and argue their own bills bUls In a legislature legisla legisla- ture Justice Is administered by their own 11 law enforcement agencies and courts They learn to do by doing The entire cost for the period Is 1500 to be paid by any individual or organization wishing to sponsor a boy at the State This sum covers everything everything- with the exception of transportation to and from camp and a small amount of spending money for the boy h himself lf The enrollment Is limited to boys therefore It is important that application for admittance be flied filed with the American Legion at once once |
