Show Ladies prepare to meet Ricks CEDAR CITY The Southern Utah State College women's basketball team will take a week away from the action to prepare for the Ricks College Invitational In-vitational Tournament Dec. 9-11 at Rexburg, Idaho. "We'll do some things this week in practice to straighten out our game," an obviously pleased Coach Boyd Admas said. "We were quite concerned playing our first two conference games on the road with very little time to get things together after volleyball. The girls responded well, and for our efforts, we have two victories." SUSC nipped New Mexico Highlands Saturday, 77-71. Monday, the lady 'Birds whomped Western New Mexico University, 77-60. Both road games were Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contests. SUSC has three players averaging in double figure scoring. Gwen Thomas scores an even 20 points per game. She also leads the team in assists with 4.5 per contest. She is a 5-4 junior from Las Vegas, Nev. Paula Burgoyne (6-0, junior, Cedar City) averages 19.5 points and is third on the team in rebounding with 7.5 takedowns per contest. con-test. Lisa Stolk (6-0, junior, Parowan) average 15.0 points and leads the squad in rebouding with an average of 12.5 per game. Freshman Lisa Ballantyne (5-10, Bountiful) grabs an average of 9.5 rebounds second only to Stolk. "I'm pleased with several things I saw," Adams said. "Anytime a team can win two on a long road trip, that's good." |
