NORMAN CHILDS I CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING EN AVANTE CLUB j Presenting a n outstanding bookreview to members of the En Avante Club last Wednesday evening was Ethel Farr.sworth. The book "Dearly Beloved" by Ann M. Lindburg, Is a story woven wo-ven around a marriage ceremony. Contained within the unique situations sit-uations involving members of the wedding party is an interesting philosophical study. Enjoying the report by Mrs. Farnsworth . along with club members was a guest, Mary Day. The group met at the home of hostess Marilyn Barrus. WE AK AVI "Becket," a book written by the French playwrite Jean An-oullh, An-oullh, was the center of attraction attrac-tion for ladies associated with the We Ak Avl club. A review of the book, a story of King Henry the Second and his dear friend Becket, was presented by lesson guest Shirley Marchant before 15 members of the club who met at the home of Ruth Hunter. H. H. CLUB Enjoying an afternoon social last week were members of the H. H. Club. The group met at the "Little Kitchen" as guests of club hostess La Rue Macfarlane. During the Thursday get-together they were entertained by program chairman Marie Froyd j I . as rhe gave ai outstanding lesson les-son concerning the history of Brigham Young and his family from the book entitled "Brigham Young, 'his Wives and Family." Saturday night, friends of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haycock met to pay a special tribute to them prior to their departure for a new home in Lander, Wyo. Host and hostess for the farewell social so-cial were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Peck. Alons with the Pecks were Dr. and Mrs. La.Mar Graff, Mr. and Mrs. Pace Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Graff and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Barney. A delicious ham dinner, served buffet Style, was enjoyed by the group along with an evening of dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Mel J- .nt the week end and Monday visiting visit-ing in Las Vegas, Nev. 'with members of their family, Mr. and . Mrs. Gene Ence and Mr. and Mrs. 1 Corry Parry. Supper and an evening of square dancing was on the agen-1 da for guests invited by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tucker last Thursday. On hand to enjoy the fun at the Tucker home was Mr. and Mrs. George Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Eldro Rigby, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lin-ford, Lin-ford, Mr. and Mrs. Art Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Schoppman and I Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Smith. Mont I Sanders and George Manning as-1 as-1 sited with the entertainment by doing a portion of the square dance calls. CHERX AMIES Mrs. Bert Langford was hostess to members of the Chere Amies group Wednesday, November 7. The evening social was planned around the second in a series of talks presented by Mrs. Lehl Jones concerning her recent trip to Europe. BETA SIGMA PHI Seventeen members of the Beta Sigma Phi group met at the home of Donna Hlggins last Thursday, November 8th. Co-hostess was Joan Skinner. The members mem-bers on hand were preparing for their annual children's bazaar to be staged prior to Christmas, the first Thursday and Friday in December. De-cember. Such items as girls night gowns, boys' pajamas, doll cradles and blankets and other Items will be available for purchase pur-chase at that time. There will also be a quilt for a regular size bed sold by the club members. Jean and Merlin Barn hurst and their six children of Las Vegas have spent the week end and the Monday holiday visiting in Cedar City with Mr. and Mrs. Art Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Mont Sanders. Also visiting on Saturday with the Art Joneses was Mrs. David (Mary) Anderson of Alamo, Nev. Early this week Joyce and Harold Ha-rold Bryant traveled to Salt Lake City. During their stay there, Mr. and Mrs. Hart of Nevada, parents of Mrs. Bryant, are visiting in Cedar City with the Bryant children. child-ren. Visiting in Cedar City during the recent three day holiday were former residents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Hirschi and family. They enjoyed seeing friends and relatives rela-tives In this area before returning return-ing to their home In Las Vegas. Currently staying in Cedar City are Mr. and Mrs. Brent Woolsey and two children of Delta. They are guests of Brent's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Woolsey. |
