Show OBITUARY. Mrs. Thomas Marshall, one of the most highly esteemed women in Salt Lake, was called to her eternal rest last Sunday morning. She had been ill for several months past, and her death though not unexpected was still a severe se-vere shock to the hosts of friends who knew and loved her well. She was a woman of most exemplary Christian virtues, generous to the poor, a cherished cher-ished friend, a devoted wife and loving mother. - Mrs. Thomas Marshall was born in St. Louis and was in her 66th year. Her maiden name was Sarah Hughes. She was one of the old residents of this city, having come across the plains to I Salt Lake by stage coach in the '60s, and has resided here lever since. Before Be-fore her health prevented her entertaining, enter-taining, her home was ever a most hospitable hos-pitable one, and often the scen of charming social gatherings, and in the older days nothing' pleased her more than to have many children come to the house. The little orphans at St. Ann's spent many a pleasant afternoon at the Marshall home, having straw berries, ice cream- and cake, and playing play-ing games, while : the gentle little hostess watched their pleasure and delight de-light with keen enjoyment. . She leaves but one daughter, Mrs. D. R. Gray of this city. Her life was full of good deeds which the public knew nothing of, and her patient bearing in all her years of sickness showed how great was her self-control; how noble was her nature. Genuine sorrow will be felt by all, for a sterling woman has passed away, while the. home is bereft. The funeral services were held from the family residence cn Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. Rt.
