Show Soldier Dead Will Be Honored Here In keeping with the custom established es-tablished since the signing of the armistice, which closed the great world war, members of the local post of the American Legion are planning on paying tribute to the soldier dead and to this end committees commit-tees have been named to prepare an appropriate program for Memoiia! Day, Tuesday, May 30. At a meeting meet-ing held the early part of the week several committees were named and plans are under way to cooperate with civic organizations to make the day one long to be remembered. Due honor will be paid to the vat veterans veter-ans and the customary program with devotional exe-.'cises and the salute will be solemnly carried out. The committee named to take the natter in hand is Burt p.igler, Rex Kearns, J. B. Roper. Vamey Thompson, Thomp-son, Leonard Anderson, Percy Nelson, Nel-son, Gilbert Fjeldsted and Roy Mad-sen. Mad-sen. A movement has also been started by the legion boys to effect an organization or-ganization of the women of Gunnison, Gunni-son, A meeting will be called soon atwihch time a survey will be made of the eligibles for the auxiliary and when this is done officers will be chosen and a charter applied for. An auxiliary committee consisting ot C. T. Hoff and F. H. Jones was named nam-ed to take up the organization of the branch for the ladies in this city. The local post now boasts of forty-four paid .up memberships and thirty applications pending. There are still a few who have failed to make out the service census application, applica-tion, blanks and the officers are desirous de-sirous of having this work completed as soon as practical and are asking that the matter be done at once that proper reports can be made. Shortly an appropriate sign "will be hung over the entrance of headquarters, head-quarters, marking the home of the legionaires in Gunnison. This is to be clone especially for members from other posts who may be here or who may be passing through. |
