Show THAT EXPECTED RECEPTION. j It is good to see the Tribune advocate a re- j ception for President Roosevelt by the people j generally. When he was here before in 1890, though a candidate for vice president, an exclusive exclu-sive few took him in charge and the public was shut out. When it was known that President Hayes was coming here Governor Murray made the fact known and a committee of citizens was oiganized to arrange a plan of reception. The same was done by Governor Thomas when President Presi-dent Harrison was coming. That was the decern de-cern way. The dispatches indicate that the piogramme has already been substantially prepared by the Utah senators. If this proves to be true the public pub-lic will not have much opportunity to get near the President. It is said Admiral Clark of the Oregon, he of the everlasting fame, will be in the piesidential party in Oregon. If he comes here it will be hoped that the public will at least be permitted to see him. |
