Show Just Stuff by Jan Right off the bat, this has been a questionable 4th of July. One of the first questions asked is: When do we celebrate? Will we have July 4th on the 3rd, or July 4th on the 5th, or (would it be possible?) July 4th on July 4th? Now, I don't know who the omnipotent decision makers are, but it looks like the 5th von, 2-1 over the 3rd, so the 4th will be on the 5th. Since Richfield's main by-way is in a bit of upheaval, the question has been asked: will there be a parade? Of course there will be a parade, with clowns, candy, floats and flags. This naturally, leads to the next question: Where will it run? Several suggestions were given; run the parade up center street; up state street (3rd north); up the truck route. A decision was made (by the great decision makers) and despite the cracks and crevices, the rocks and ridges, the dirt and the dust, this years parade will follow tradition and make its way up Main Street. Deciding on this route brought up a few questions: Will the floats be pulled by 4 wheel drives? Will there be a wrecker handy to "unstuck "un-stuck any high-centered vehicles? How will the band keep their white spats from turning pink from the dirt? Will the onlookers on-lookers be able to look-on the parade through the dust? No matter the questions, the 4th on the 5th is just around the bend, and I'm sure, with all the planning and hard work the Independence Day committee has put in this year, this 4th will be as super as those in the past from Old Glory leading the parade, to the last bang of the fireworks! Have a great 4th of July and a special thanks to everyone who helped plan this years 4th! |
