Show Myton News by Grace Dalgleish Stewart Dennis, who entered the Mission Home in Salt Lake City Monday was honored at the Myton L.D.S. Ward Chapel Friday evening with the Elders Presidency directing the program prog-ram which consisted of a vocal trio by Charlotte, Julie and Irene Dennis; piano solo, Kay Johnson; reading, Chester Mathisen; piano solo, Sandra Crapo. Games were played during the evening and delicious deli-cious refreshments were served. The Elders Quorum was in charge of the evenings entertainment and all honored the young missionary prior to his departure for the mission field, Mrs. Don Rawson and daughters, daugh-ters, Brenda and Rhonda, came from Salt Lake City to spend the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Lavor Dennis, parents of Mrs. Rawson. Members of the Birthday Club and other friends were guests of Mrs. Gladys Dart at the Grill in Roosevelt Thursday afternoon. The guests enjoyed a delicious dinner. Present were Edith Gentry, Esther Burton, Sarah Brokaw, Ruth Murray, Grace Dalgleish, Laura Preece, Rosabell Morrison, Dora Griffin Grif-fin and Mrs. W. S. Anderson. As Mrs. Dart's birthday was in the month of May, the club presented her with gifts. The 11 A. M. Sunday service was conducted at the Presbyterian Presby-terian church. A laymans sermon ser-mon was presented by Thomas Gentry, "Are You a Square?11, a thought very close to the heart of all mankind, Mrs. Melvin Schwartz was in charge of the musical accompaniment for the hymnal service. At the close of the service, refreshments re-freshments were served and a social hour was enjoyed. Nert Sunday, May 22, members of the Christ Methodist Church of Salt Lake City will preside at the regular Sunday service, A "quilting bee" will be held at the Presbyterian Church, Tuesday and a large attendance of ladies aid members and helpful friends are expected to be present to start a new work project. The members of the family of Mrs. Arthema Richens gathered gath-ered to greet their mother, Saturday, when 80 family members came from Mt. Pleasant, Plea-sant, Eden, Murray, Logan, Salt Lake City, Gunnison, and Kearns to honor their mother and join members of the 1 family residing in Myton and the Uintah Basin. The Myton Elementary School gymnasium was the setting for the reunion, hwere a delicious dinner was served, a program and dancing, and all enjoyed visiting members mem-bers of the family, many of whom had not had that opportunity oppor-tunity for a long time. Local family members who were present were Mr. and Mrs. Aften Richens and Mr. and Mrs, Clifford McKenna and their families. Among the sons who came with their families from outside points were Thurbo, Marvin, Lenor, Tohn, Arlo and Lowell. Unable to be pre- sent for the reunion were Velma Riggs of Goldfield, Nevada and Ervin Richens of Murray. The family hopes to be able to repeat the reunion next year. Priesthood members of the Myton L, D. S. Ward participated participat-ed in an outing Saturday. They visited the Brigham Young University at Provo and as they were homeward bound enjoyed an outing at the Hot Pots at Midway. Twenty-six fathers and sons, also supervisors, participated in the outing, James Duke, Larry Rose, B. L, Workman and Clark Abegglen were among the supervisors. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Perry enjoyed a weekend visit from their son, Duane, who is attending Trade Tech School in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Loryn Ross, with her son and daughter, Bret and Vicki, were visitors to Salt Lake City Friday. Vicki received re-ceived medical attention while there. Linda Ross, a niece of Mrs. Ross, also accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Bab-cock Bab-cock and two children came for a weekend visit at the ranch home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Babcock. The small daughter, Sarah Jo, remained for a longer visit with her grandparents when her parents returned to Salt Lake City Sunday evening. |
