Show ALTAMONT - TABIONA - DUCHESNE GRADUATION SET FOR MAY 24 Seventeen Duchesne High School senior students are candidates can-didates for graduation this year. The graduation program will be held at 8 p.m., May 24 at the high school! Dr. Dean C. Christensen of the Department of Education at the Brigham Young University and former superintendent of schools for the Duchesne County School District, will be guest speaker. His topic will be based upon the graduation theme "Only As High As Our Ambitions Ambi-tions Can We Ascend. " Louise Moon, class valedictorian valedic-torian for 1966 will give the valedictory address and Shauna Freeman-will address the assembly assem-bly as salutatorian. Miss Moon is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer El-mer R. Moon, Duchesne, and Miss Freeman's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freeman, Duchesne. Other honor students are Clinton Moon, a son of Mr. & Mrs. Phillip Moon, Duchesne, and Vicki Broadhead, daughter of Ray Broadhead, Duchesne. Linda Stansfield and Russell Cowan will read the class history his-tory as part of the program. Rodney Harrison, class president, will introduce the 17 senior students and Principal James Keith Rogers will present the graduating seniors to receive diplomas from B. A. Jacoby, Duchesne, veteran member of the Duchesne County Board of Education. The Farewell Song will be sung by the entire class just prior to the recessional. After the commencement exercises, the graduates and family members, friends, and the public are invited to remain in the commencement hall to dance to the music of Art Smith and his orchester. The decor for the commencement commen-cement exercises will be done with the principal interest placed plac-ed on the red rose, the class flower. The students will wear the traditional caps and gowns for the commencement exercises. Graduates are Vicki Broadhead, Broad-head, Roger Cowan, Russell Cowan, Scott Cowan, Kathy Despain, Shauna Freeman, Rodney Rod-ney Harrison, Ralph Hayes, Galen Hooper, Rodger Ivie, Clinton Moon, Louise Moon, Juia Potter, Linda Stansfield,... Dennis Thomas, Sally Wilker-son, Wilker-son, William Young. J. LaMar Gillen is faculty adviser to the seniors. The graduates will go to a movie at the Cozy Theatre after the dance. TABIONA GRADUATION MAY 24 "Education, Key to the Future" is the theme of the 1966 Tabiona High School graduation gradu-ation program. The commencement commence-ment exercises will be held at 8 p. m. Tuesday, May 24, at the school gymnasium. Ten seniors will graduate two girls and eight boys. These candidates for graduation are Eugene Chavez, LeVere Fab-rizio, Fab-rizio, Tex Gines, Leon Jones, Patsy Lamb, Jack Lazenby, Keith Rhoades, John Roberts, Boyd Turnbow, and Kathleen Young. Each of the ten students will take part in the program. The class president is Keith Rhoades; vice president, Tex Gines; and secretary is Patsy Lamb. Gary DeLange is the faculty advisor. LeVere Fabrizio and Keith Rhoades are the honor students. Leon Jones will present the "Welcome" speech. The class will has been written by and will be read by Kathleen Young; the class history, written and read by John Roberts; the tribute to parents will be given by Eu- j gene Chavez; the tribute to teachers will be given by Patsy Lamb; and the tribute to the school will be given by Tex Gines. The invocation will be given by Boyd Turnbow, and the benediction will be said by Jack Lazenby. Mrs. Carlene Williams, pianist, will play the "Graduation "Gradu-ation March". Principal E. Kent Ellertson will present the seniors to receivetheir diplomas from Hollis G. Hullinger, president,, and Nathan D. Allen, member, the Duchesne County Board of Education. Commencement exercises begin be-gin at 8 p. m. in the school gymnasium. "Climb Every Mountain" is theme of the graduation program. Leslie Maxfield is class valedictorian and Valerie Hansen is salutatorian. Both will be speakers on the program j Miss Maxfield is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield, Max-field, and Miss Hansen's parents par-ents are Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hansen. Guest speaker is James Chapman, regional coordinator of the Utah State Committee of Children and Youth, chairman chair-man of the Uintah County . Mental Health Board of Directors, and a social worker for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Af-fairs, Ft. Duchesne. Other honor students are Lynda Hansen, DeAnn Potts, Phyllis Re ay, Mary Lou Han-berg, Han-berg, Joyce Lindsay Thayne, Lynette Brown, Craig Mitchell, Thomas Tew, Susan Vance, and Ida Lou Walker. A special song, "May You Always", will be sung by the Golden Bells. Vearl R. Tucker of the Altamont High School faculty will sing the theme song, "Climb Every Mountain". The 38 graduating seniors and their parents, the faculty members and their partners, and other special guests will be honored at the Senior Reception May 19 at the school. This social event is hostessed by the Altamont Variety Arts Club, which is headed by Mrs. Naomi Fisher, president. Principal Mark C. Simmons j will present the candidates for graduation and the diplomas diplo-mas will be awarded by Ray Oman, Altamont, a member of the Duchesne County Board of Education. The other district staff visitor at the graduation rites will be Supt. Thomas J. Abplanalp. V i i '$ ' ' f VaLona Humes, 17, Girls' State delegate from the Tabiona High School TABIONA GIRLS' STATE DELEGATE ANNOUNCED TABIONA - VaLona Humes, 17, is the Girls' State delegate from the Tabiona High School this year. Miss Humes, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert C. Young, Tabiona, is the say, Joyce Lindsay Thayne, Leslie Maxfield, Craig Mitchell, Mit-chell, De Ann Potts, Roland Powell, Phyllis Reay, Donald Remington, Afton Swasey, Larry Taylor, Thomas Tew, Tom Thacker, Susan Vance, Ida Lou Walker, Brent Wall, and Linda Call. The program was planned by the seniors in cooperation with the class adviser, Alfred Marshall. only delegate to this Americanism Ameri-canism session sponsored in June at the Utah State University Univer-sity campus, at Logan, by The American Legion Auxiliary, Utah Department. Her local sponsor is the Tabiona Parents -Teachers Association, which has been headed this past two years by Mrs. Winona Lefler. Miss Humes, an outstanding outstand-ing junior student at the Tabiona Ta-biona High School, is vice president of the class, has served as photographer for the school's yearbook this year, is on the school and seminary honor rollj serves as a chorister in the Sunday School at the Tabiona Ward, Church of Jesus Je-sus Christ, Latter-Day Saints, and is a teacher in the Tabiona Ward. For the past three years, she has been a cheerleader for the school. This year, she was a member of the THS Junior Prom planning committee. In 1964, she was Harvest Queen at THS, was rodeo queen for two years for the Tabiona-Hanna community; and was first attendant to the Miss Duchesne County Fair Rodeo Queen two years ago. |
