Show Golden Years Club Enj oys Luncheon The Golden Years Club met for lunch Thursday, March 17, 1977 in the Viewmont High School cafeteria with program chairman, Grant Peterson in charge. MRS. MERLE Tag'gert, Golden Years nutritionist, gave the invocation and blessing on the food. Mrs. Elizabeth Roundy, a member of the county board, led in the salute to the flag. MR. AND MRS. Lloyd Riley were welcomed back after a brief absence. Coy Hayward was recognized as a representative of the Davis County Board. Miss Joyce Keller, representing the Davis County School District called for volunteers to visit in the school. The plan is for the oldsters to work with the children so they will have a better understanding and love for senior citizens. Miss Keller contacted all present to sign up to help. FOLLOWING the luncheon served by volunteers from the Catholic and Community Churches, the group enjoyed a musical program presented . by the "Happy Go Luckies" harmonica band of Salt Lake City. This group of forty people came for lunch, paid for it themselves and provided their own transportation. THE LEADER of the group was Albert Barber, who conducted con-ducted the musicians and paid tribute to all those present who had birthdays in March. Mrs. Tessie Wilsonholm, a ninety-seven year old member of the musical group, was introduced and honored with a round of applause. MRS. RUBY Olsen, Golden Years member who is eighty-seven eighty-seven years old, was also recognized. Mr. Barber had the audience sing the Happy Birthday song accompanied by his musical group who played harmonicas with a piano accompaniment played by Mrs. Edna Hall who also was the accompanist for the harmonica band. MR. BARBER then led the group of talented men and women in a concert of twelve or more old-time love songs. The first song was "Oh Sera Sera, Whatever Will be Will Be," and "Now Is The Hour," was sung to close the concert. THE BAND first played the melody of the songs, then they sang the words. The audience joined in singing many of the numbers and were invited to sing "Now is the Hour." A special number was a duet on the melodica and harmonica by Olga and Dick Eliason. MRS. TAGGERT and a committee of Golden Years women made the table decorations. There were green and gold paper streamers, green shamrocks and lacy green, decorated place mats and decorated cups filled wilh candy and nuts for a special holiday treat for the oldsters.
