Mrs. Rose Hedges returned to her home at Lyndyl last Saturday after a brief visit with Mrs. Allen Hedges of Milford. E. Fouts was called to Suit Lake City Wednesday night as a witness in the contest case of the Stillwell homestead. Twins, boy and girl, were born to Mrs. Henry White of Minersville, Sunday. The little girl died in four hours after birth. Lawrence Thompson came down from Newhouse, the busy neighboring neighbor-ing mining town, and spent Sunday Sun-day in Milford. j Noah L. An item of interest to many In Milford is the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Walter I. Moody, Jr., at Fresno, California, on the 10th Inst. W. A. Buchanan, merchant of Frisco, and who farmed an eighty on the project by proxy, two seasons, was here on business the first of the week. Mrs. Heber Wood waa called to Blackfoot, Idaho, early this week by the death of her sister, Mrs. Alice Baldwin, formerly a resident of Beaver Bea-ver county. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Parrent will be pleased to know that Mrs. Parrett returned from California entirely recovered from her recent illness. The Ladies' Aid of the M. E. 'church will give a social at the 'church Friday evening, January 26. Everybody welcome. Charges, adults '15c, children 10c. Engineer Bush of the Salt Lake was here last week and bought the Beardsley house. He was formerly located here and hopes to be transferred trans-ferred back to Milford. Allison Al-lison will be holding services at Eureka Eu-reka next Sunday and the services at the Methodist church in Milford will he confined to Sunday school at 10 a. m. and Epworth League at 11 a. m. Last Monday, Dr. Swanson performed per-formed a delicate operation upon an eye of George Rawlins, of Minersville, Miners-ville, removing a cancerous growth known as epithelioma, with which Mr. Rawlins has been afflicted for a long time. About a score of the friends of Mrs. E. H. Bird tendered her a "surprise "sur-prise party" one evening last week in honor of her birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. Mr. Stillwell was for a time a resident of the project and had a homestead east of Milford. Mil-ford. He is now conducting a cafeteria cafe-teria on Hill street in Los Angeles and says he feeds 1,000 people every day. Wm. Murray, teacher of the school in his district, came in town ! Saturday to spend Sunday with his ; wife who is a teacher in the Milford school. Mr. Murray says that the thermometer registered 32 degrees below zero at his ranch near Reed Friday night. Geo. White, of Beaver, who has for many years sold butter, eggs, poultry, etc., over Beaver county, is ill with nervous prostration. Mr. White Is known to almost every old-time old-time resident in the county and is much respected for his many sterling-qualities. Mr. Leroy Pope, foreman of the construction of the new roundhouse round-house has paid off his mechanics and they have returned to California. Califor-nia. The roofing and painting is about all that is left to be done to 'Oomplete the construction of the' new building. Mrs. Belle Stmsbury Emehlser was on Wednesday committed, after a hearing before the lunacy commission com-mission of Beaver county, to the asylum for the insane at Provo. The unfortunate lady has been a sufferer from mental derangement for some time. Guy Saval, pre.sident of the Baker Livestock Co., of Baker Nevada, has been at the Milford several days this week. Mr. Saval was accompanied by John Morita and Martin Morita of the same city. Mr. Saval is the owner of a large tract of land in and near his home town with valuable water rights and will open the same as an irrigation project the coming spring. I. R. Lewis ws apprehended in "Salt Lake City Wednesday upon a charge of grand larceny claimed to "have been committed in Beaver county in a mining camp of the Washington district. Mr. Lewis was once before charged with the offense and released upon a technicality, we are informed. The matter has already al-ready cost the county about ?800. The accused gave bond for his appearance ap-pearance in court. Last Monday morning, the train from California brought again to our city, Mrs. A. Buchanan. To a casual acquaintance Mrs. Buchanan would hardly be recognized, she would in all probability be taken for some young girl, but to her old time friends, her charming personality person-ality would always be recognized; and as one old acquaintance remarked, re-marked, "I don't blame Angus for bringing her up here for she looks too good to be be left alone in California." Cali-fornia." j W. I. Moody, president of the Delta Del-ta Land & Water Company was in Milford the first of the week for a brief visit to the local office. He was accompanied by Francis Allen, a son of N. R. Allen, of New York, who is perhaps the largest stockholder stock-holder of the several companies promoting pro-moting irrigation projects in. which Mr. Moody appears as president and representative. Mr. Moody went to Los Angeles from here where he joined Mrs. Moody, and together they will spend a short time at Fresno, where is located the offices of the new California propect to be opened the coming season. |
