Show DR. MIDDLET0N HONORED GUEST AT DR. MACFARLANE HOME LAST SUNDAY NIGHT Last Sunday evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. M. J. Maefarlane, a number of friends met to greet and welcome Dr. Geo. W. Middleton, who was answering a professional call to Cedar City. It was a mixed company of elderly and younger married folk, and withall very congenial. The time for the most part was spent in telling amusing personal experiences of the past, in which Dr. Middleton led off. William Palmer read a Christmas poem po-em by Dr. Middleton, entitled "The Balance Sheet." And by special request re-quest a reply which he sent' to the Doctor, both of which appear in another an-other part of this issue of The Record. Rec-ord. David Bulloch recounted some of his arduous experiences of earlier days in this part of the country, before be-fore it was as well settled as it is now, particularly one in which he came within a hair's breadth of perishing in the cold and snow between this place and Pioche, where he went with a bunch of beef cattle. Many humorous incidents of personal person-al experience were recounted by those present. Someone "stacked the deck" when sides were chosen up for what later proved to be a singing contest, Mr. and Mrs. Frisby and nearly all the other songbirds being on one side, the chief dependence of the vanquished warblers being U. T. Jones and the editor of The Record, so that as you can easily imagine it was not hard to decide the winners. Mrs. Maefarlane served a very' appetizing ap-petizing and dainty lunch, and the Dr. and Mrs. Maefarlane proved to be very proficient entertainers. The following were present: Dr. G. W. Middleton, M. D. Higbee, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. David Bulloch, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Lunt, Mr. and Mrs. U. T. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Palmer. Mr. and Mrs. Jethro Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Palmer.
