Show oiurrAiiy. Patriarch Samuel B. Hardy, one of Dixie's Pioneers, Passed Away Last Saturday at the Ripe Old Age of 95 Years. Sajicel Brocklebank Hardy died last Saturday, the 9th inst., from old age, and has gone to enjoy en-joy the repose he so well earned. Deceased was born in Bradford, Essex county, Mass., September 2l' 1804 His ancestors settled in Bradford, on the Merrimac river in 1G30. He was baptised into the Latter-day Saints Church in 1842,-at 1842,-at Georgetown, Mass, by Elder Jonathaa Holmes; and ordained a priest in 1843. He emigrated with his family to Utah in 1850, 1 en vine Bradford April 9th and arriving at Salt Lake October 12th, where they lived in the Old Fort a short time In the spring of 1S52 he was ordained or-dained an elder and was appointed one of the presidents of the 29th Quorum of Seventies, and at the death of President Augustus Earn-ham Earn-ham and Miles Romney became senior president, and remained so until the reorganisation, when he was ordained a patriarch. He was on the police force at its organis'a tion m Salt Lake and served on it until 1So9. He held commissions as lieutenant, captain, and major in the Nauvoo Legion. He was called with others on a mission to settle Dixie at the Octo ber conference in 18C1, and arrived in A1rg.11 City, this county, December Decem-ber f.the same year; he lived there until May, LSI,9, when he removed to St. George with his family, and has since resided here. He had four wives, three of whom are dead-and dead-and leaves one wife, two sonssix daugntei-.s.seveiity-three grandehif dren, and ninety-seven great-grand children.
